New Solo Album 'Tell Me It's A Dream' by Rosa Walton From Let's Eat Grandma

Rosa Walton steps into a new era, announcing her debut solo album Tell Me It’s A Dream, her most personal and expansive statement to date, set for release on 5 June 2026 via Transgressive Records (presave HERE). Marking a defining moment in her artistic evolution, Walton also unveils the first single “Sorry Anyway”, a bright, hook-driven anthem centred on radical self-acceptance and fearless individuality.

Best known as one half of Norwich experimental pop duo Let’s Eat Grandma, Walton now opens a new creative chapter with a record that expands her sonic world while remaining rooted in heartfelt vulnerability and bold ambition.

New single “Sorry Anyway”, which was premiered by Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 6 Music, captures that spirit perfectly. Built around sparkling pop hooks and a playful yet defiant energy, the track sees Walton embracing imperfection and authenticity, delivering the standout lyric: “If you want the lightning / There’s gonna be thunderbolts and rain.” It’s one of the album’s most immediate moments, balancing emotional honesty with euphoric uplift.

“The idea of doing a solo project was never about stepping away or doing something on my own for the sake of it”, Walton says. “It started as writing to process things and stay grounded, and it grew into something shaped by the people around me and the joy of making music together.”

About “Sorry Anyway”, Rosa continues, “This song is about not letting anyone hold you back, whether in a relationship or in chasing your ambitions. It’s about doing your own thing, embracing who you are, and not caring about fitting into boxes, and also trying to inspire others to have this attitude. We had fun making it - it’s the flippant, messiness that makes the song, and it was also the beginning of a new vocal style for me. I’m owning all parts of myself.”

The seeds of Tell Me It’s A Dream were first planted during lockdown sessions with Sam E Yamaha, with Walton later revisiting and reshaping the songs as her voice and songwriting evolved. The album was then co-produced by Rosa with David Wrench (Frank Ocean, Jamie xx, FKA twigs), continuing a trusted creative partnership. The record features guitarist John Victor, bassist Kam Khan and drummer Elena Costa, while Jenny Hollingworth appears on the highlight, “Prettier Things”. Recorded during a creatively charged stay at Wales’ StudiOwz, the album captures a sense of warmth, connection and optimism. Despite originating during a complicated period in Walton’s life, the record ultimately celebrates love, friendship and creative freedom. Across its luminous, emotionally expansive songs, Walton draws heavily on imagery of light, colour and open skies. From the euphoria and sparkling sadness of “Heart To Heartbreak” to the romantic glow of “Halfway Round The World”, the album reflects Walton’s instinctive, visual songwriting style.

Walton first rose to prominence forming Let’s Eat Grandma with Hollingworth aged just 13, releasing their debut I, Gemini at 17, followed by their Ivor Novello Award-nominated breakthrough I’m All Ears (co-produced by SOPHIE with Wrench), and 2022’s acclaimed Two Ribbons. Outside of the band, Walton has also achieved solo success, most notably writing the 2023 track “I Really Want To Stay At Your House” for anime series and videogame, Cyberpunk 2077, which has amassed over 400 million streams, and collaborating with NATURE on last year’s “This Isn’t It” as part of a groundbreaking conservation initiative.

“Tell Me It’s A Dream is about being ambitious and seeing enhanced beauty in the world” Walton says of the album. “It’s about striving for ultimate freedom. A lot of the attitude in these songs is about following your dreams - and that’s exactly what I intend to do.”

Tell Me It’s A Dream will be available on Digital, CD, cassette, sky blue vinyl and limited edition indie store exclusive yellow vinyl including previously unreleased song “There's No Such Thing As Horses”. A limited edition neon pink 7" including “I Really Want To Stay At Your House” (from Cyberpunk 2077) is available with album bundles via the official artist store.
