85 Segundos para el Fin del Mundo releases 'Hibakusha'

After bursting onto the Latin American extreme metal scene with their debut single ‘Hienas y Buitres’, the duo 85 Segundos para el Fin del Mundo (85 seconds until the end of the world) returns with the release of their second promotional track, titled ‘Hibakusha’. Forged during the summer of 2026 and featuring two highly experienced figures from the Chilean scene -Cristian Olivares (ex-Lefutray) and Matías Leonicio (Nuclear)- the project continues to expand its critical view on alienation and dehumanization in the modern era.

Historically, the hibakusha are the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945; a term that literally translates to "person affected by the explosion". In this new release, the band takes this dramatic concept and transforms it into a sharp contemporary metaphor. The song acts as a mirror for modern humanity, suggesting that on a planet dangerously close to collapse, we are all potential survivors exposed to new forms of destruction, whether nuclear, environmental, or social. It is both a condemnation of a violent, decaying system and a symbol of resistance in the face of catastrophe.

Musically, the duo solidifies their raw approach, blending influences from crust punk, death 'n' roll, and industrial metal. With music composed by Olivares and lyrics penned by Leonicio, the pair manages to capture a dense, visceral sound that serves as a warning for the dark times we live in. Their name is a nod to the "Doomsday Clock", reflecting how close our civilization is to its own demise.
