Arenas del Tiempo presents 'Batalla de Los Ríos'

Chilean project Arenas del Tiempo has just released ‘Batalla de Los Ríos’, the first single from their upcoming studio album, scheduled for release later this year in 2026. Fronted by bassist and composer Daniel Arenas, the project continues to develop a sound that blends the power of classic power metal with progressive elements and stories inspired by Chile's history, identity, and cultural heritage.

‘Batalla de Los Ríos’ tackles one of the most significant episodes of the "Arauco War", drawing inspiration from the military clashes of the Mapuche people, who resisted the advance of the Spanish conquest during the 16th and 17th centuries. Through an epic narrative, the track portrays the courage, strategy, and determination of the Mapuche warriors in a conflict that deeply marked the history of southern Chile and lasted for over three centuries.

The release is accompanied by an official cinematic music video, which aims to represent this historical resistance and the Mapuche people's struggle to defend their territory, culture, and freedom. The song was composed and produced by Daniel Arenas, while mixing and mastering were handled by Nicolás Arce, who aimed for a powerful and modern sound while maintaining the instrumental richness characteristic of contemporary power metal.

For this production, Arenas del Tiempo once again brought together prominent musicians from the national scene: Daniel Arenas on bass, composition, and production; Mauricio Catalán and Gabriel Hidalgo on guitars; Mauricio Olivares on keyboards; Nicolás Palacios (Dr. Kronos) on keyboard solos; Felipe Cherubini on drums; Patricio Carriel on lead vocals; and Felipe Ciudad on backing vocals. All participating musicians hail from Santiago, Chile.

“The collaborative work done during the recording of my first album, “Huellas”, released in 2024, was a fundamental experience for this new challenge. I learned a lot about how to integrate each musician's ideas and boost their strengths within the compositions. That learning process allowed me to face this new record with a much clearer vision and achieve a more homogeneous, solid, and cohesive sound, without losing the identity and personality that each member brings to the music,” says Daniel Arenas.
