Arenas del Tiempo unveils 'Anónimos'
Following the release of ‘Batalla de Los Ríos’, a composition fueled by the historical Arauco War and the first preview of their forthcoming studio LP, Chilean outfit Arenas del Tiempo continues rolling out fresh material with ‘Anónimos’ (Anonymous). This time around, the single steps away from historical epics to reflect on the invisible, intertwined threads connecting individuals across contemporary society.
Spearheaded by bassist and composer Daniel Arenas, the project solidifies its signature blend of explosive power metal, progressive arrangements, and a strong narrative focus. In ‘Anónimos’, the story hinges on a concept as everyday as it is overlooked: decisions made by total strangers, people we will likely never cross paths with, can ultimately send ripples that directly shape our own lives.
The launch is backed by an ambitious music video that translates the song’s core concept into the visual realm, tracing diverse characters and situations that initially seem entirely unrelated, only to progressively intersect. To construct this cinematic universe, Arenas del Tiempo incorporated artificial intelligence tools across video generation, visual artwork, and promotional assets, a strategic move that, according to Daniel Arenas, enables an independent act to access high-end audiovisual resources that would typically demand prohibitive production budgets.
However, the musician is unequivocal regarding where technology stops and human craft begins: “There is a line that, for me, is completely non-negotiable: music itself is not created with artificial intelligence,” explains Daniel Arenas, emphasizing: “I don't use it to compose, write songs, generate melodies, build arrangements, or replace the work of musicians. In my view, that simply has no place in music. Music must stem from the raw creativity, life experiences, and craftsmanship of real human beings.”
With ‘Anónimos’, Arenas del Tiempo delivers a striking second preview of their upcoming full-length album, expanding the thematic territory introduced by ‘Batalla de Los Ríos’. In doing so, the project demonstrates that its vision is by no means confined to historical reenactments, wielding metal as a potent vehicle to examine profound questions and existential reflections on modern society.
