Niia, who classically trained on piano and formally studied jazz vocals, returns to her first love, her roots and the foundation of her musical identity with this track. “All I ever wanted to be as a kid was a jazz singer, in the tradition of the greats,” says Niia. “This song marks a very special moment in my career - one where I can come back to what shaped me, and reconnect with the music that has always been my true passion.”

With Angel Eyes, Niia reimagines the beloved 1946 jazz standard by Matt Dennis & Earl B. Brent, famously interpreted by many of the jazz greats, but most notably by Chet Baker, whose cool-jazz rendition remains a defining touchstone of Niia’s musical centre. Zahn, known for his blending of jazz, ambient, and modern classical composition into lush exploratory soundscapes (Pigments with Dawn Richards), bridges vintage elegance with modern warmth. The track is reimagined without nostalgia—bare, exposed, and emotionally raw. Slow phrasing, minimal vibrato, and soft reharmonization deliver a farewell to tradition. The song, a classic meditation on longing and heartbreak, is given a new dimension here, stripped of sentimentality and delivered with aching intimacy. It’s a thrilling first glimpse of what’s yet to come in the next chapter of Niia’s artistic evolution. This is the sound of a modern-day jazz singer.

The release is accompanied by an official music video directed by Dimitri Basil. The visual draws us into a moody, stylised world of Niia’s creation. Set in the iconic Los Angeles lounge The Dresden, the video, which evokes a Lynchian surrealism and Tarantino’s hard-boiled sensibility, introduces a cast of intriguing characters in a beautifully shot, noir-tinged atmosphere where the narrative feels just out of reach. Where it’s headed remains to be seen. We’ll all have to keep watching.

Additionally to her release, Niia has announced the first leg of a European autumn tour. Kicking off on October 4th in Cologne, Germany, the tour makes stops in Denmark, Switzerland, and Hungary, before wrapping on October 28th in Vienna, Austria.
