Noonzy returns with new single ‘Where/When’
Fresh [PIAS] Recordings signing Noonzy the solo project of Antwerp-based musician Arnaud Stockbroekx, shares new single Where/When — an infectious ode to the rush of falling in love with strangers, and the charm of imagined romance. With intricate, expressive basslines, love-flushed lyrics, and lo-fi analog synths, Where/When captures the spark of the carefree leisure of youth and the spiky anxieties of our modern, disconnected age in a hazy, laid-back melody —reminiscent of a wistful night out.
Inspired by an almost guilty pleasure, Noonzy reflects:
“I’ve fallen in love with complete strangers before. It’s easy! You don’t know anything about that person, so as far as you know, they’re perfect. Sure, it’s not real love, but sometimes you’ve got to allow yourself a little dream, right? It certainly helps if you want to write songs.”
Noonzy’s prowess came to light after being selected as a finalist of De Nieuwe Lichting 2023. What followed was a flurry of attention and activity. Within weeks Noonzy found himself supporting his soon-to-be labelmates, art-rock titans Warhaus and dEUS, thrust in front of 2,000 capacity crowds across Europe, just him and his acoustic guitar.
