Noorvik Announces New Album "Omission", First Track and Video Online
We're pleased to announce the first track Floating from Noorvik's new album Omission, due out in October via Tonzonen Records!
Since 2016 German instrumental quartet Noorvik combines spherical melodies with harsh rhythms. Noorvik melt dynamic arcs of suspense with progressive song structures to an experimental post-rock attitude. Named after a town in Alaska, the self titled debut album was released in 2018 and the band gained attention across the international music scene.
The eight-minute video to the song leads us through untouched wilderness somewhere near the Arctic Circle.
"The video to Floating, the first track of the album, underlines the dynamics of the song with different landscape shots, all of which could be from the area around Noorvik," the band comments, "Landscapes don't tell a story, but a certain dramaturgy still can be seen. Here, as with the artwork for the album, we deliberately leave out people as actors. One could understand this as a parallel to our purely instrumental music."
On the new album Omission the band further explains: "Our approach to Omission compared to our debut was to explore the extremes of music and sound even more. To make quieter passages even more reduced, to play one note less than too much, to drive the sound back there even more. And to put a shovel on the faster, louder parts."
After several live shows in Germany, Noorvik's second album Omission will be released on 4th October 2019 via Tonzonen Records, following a live tour to present the new album.
