‘CHASING THE SUN: OASIS 1993 – 1997’ EXHIBITION OPENS IN MANCHESTER ON OCTOBER 14
With today marking the 20th anniversary of the first day of recording ‘Be Here Now’ at Abbey Road Studios, Big Brother Recordings have released the Mustique Demo of the classic Oasis single ‘Stand By Me’. The track is available to stream, download and as an instant grat with ‘Be Here Now’ album pre-orders from https://Oasis.lnk.to/SBM
Recorded on the Caribbean island in early 1996 by Noel Gallagher and Owen Morris, the Mustique Demos are the original demos for ‘Be Here Now’. None of these original versions of the songs have ever been heard by anyone outside of the band before now. Two of the demos have recently been released to stream and download - ‘Don’t Go Away (Mustique Demo)’, listen https://Oasis.lnk.to/DGA, and ‘Angel Child (Mustique Demo)’, listen https://Oasis.lnk.to/AngelChild
All fourteen Mustique demos are available on special editions of the new Chasing The Sun edition of ‘Be Here Now’, released October 14th on Big Brother Recordings. The release follows the successful reissues of ‘Definitely Maybe’ and ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’, which were part of the same series. Pre-order ‘Be Here Now’ here
CHASING THE SUN: OASIS 1993 – 1997
OLD GRANADA STUDIOS MANCHESTER, OCTOBER 14 – 25
Opening on October 14th, the day the new edition of ‘Be Here Now’ is released, is the exhibition ‘Chasing The Sun: Oasis 1993 – 1997’, which visits the legendary Manchester band’s hometown after successful showings in London and Tokyo. Taking place at Old Granada Studios and running until October 25th, the exhibition takes us on Oasis’s supercharged journey to international megastardom. Curated by renowned photographer Lawrence Watson, Chasing The Sun 1993-1997 debuted in London in 2014, attracting over 40,000 visitors in 10 days and receiving plaudits from press and fans alike. The exhibition then toured to Tokyo, and now, with the Manchester edition, the show comes home to where the story of Oasis began.
The Manchester incarnation of the exhibition has been extended making it bigger and better than ever before, with additional rare and iconic content artefacts and photographs. It also features a life-size recreation of the front room in which the iconic artwork for ‘Definitely Maybe’ was photographed and a display featuring many of the original props.
The exhibition will be open daily from noon to 8pm, with the exception on Sundays when doors will close at 6pm. Admission free. More information: https://Oasis.lnk.to/exhibition
