Oliver Heldens, Kryder and The Young Punx reimagine Freeez's influential 1983 hit "I.O.U."

Oliver Heldens joins forces with Kryder and The Young Punx for "AEIOU," a fresh take on Freeez's influential 1983 hit "I.O.U." Landing July 24 on Heldeep Records, the collaboration flips the disco classic into a high-energy house record made for today's clubs and festival stages.

For more than 40 years, "I.O.U." has remained one of dance music's most recognizable records. With "AEIOU," the trio keeps the original's unmistakable groove and vocal while dialing up the tempo with crisp percussion, driving basslines, and uplifting house production. The result feels familiar enough to spark nostalgia while sounding right at home in a modern DJ set.

Heldens has built a reputation for breathing new life into timeless dance records, and "AEIOU" continues that approach. Joining him is Kryder, whose energetic house sound has become a staple on dancefloors around the world, alongside The Young Punx, known for their inventive productions and deep appreciation for dance music history. Together, they strike a balance between honoring the original and giving it a fresh identity.

The record captures the spirit of both eras. It borrows the warmth and funk of disco, then channels it through the energy of contemporary house music. Whether it's played at a summer festival, in a packed club, or during a sunset set, "AEIOU" is built to connect generations of dance music fans.

About Oliver Heldens

Oliver Heldens is one of the most prolific and forward-thinking artists in electronic music, with over 4 billion streams, multiple No. 1 hits, and a sound that blends mainstage house with cutting-edge techno. Since his breakthrough in 2013 with “Gecko,” which later became a triple-platinum UK chart-topper with vocals from Becky Hill, Heldens has established a unique space in global dance music under both his own name and his darker, more underground alias, HI-LO.

As a producer, Heldens is known for his fearless creativity and genre-defying collaborations with legends like Nile Rodgers, Kylie Minogue, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, and Tiësto. His remix credits span pop and electronic royalty, including Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Jamiroquai, and Justin Timberlake. He also leads a thriving ecosystem of labels-Heldeep Records, OH2, and HILOMATIK-which serve as platforms for both emerging and established talent in house and techno, with releases from ALOK, ZHU, Green Velvet, Chocolate Puma, Eli Brown, and James Hype, among many others.

Through his HI-LO alias, Heldens has become a leading figure in the global techno scene, with notable releases on Drumcode and Filth on Acid, including seven collaborations with Reinier Zonneveld. HI-LO tracks are regularly supported by artists like Carl Cox, Solomun, Charlotte de Witte, Adam Beyer, Tale of Us, and Amelie Lens. In 2025, Oli’s global domination continued, headlining major events such as Ultra Music Festival Miami, Tomorrowland, Creamfields, ÎLESONIQ, the Indianapolis 500, and F1’s Dutch Grand Prix.

Heldens also dominates the airwaves with Heldeep Radio, which now boasts nearly 600 episodes and is syndicated on 180 stations across 55 countries, reaching 80 million monthly listeners. With relentless creativity and a focus on quality that spans club, festival, and radio audiences, Oliver Heldens remains one of electronic music’s most versatile and visionary figures, bridging underground credibility with mainstream impact.
