Ootoro Returns to NIGHTMODE with New 5-Track EP 'CULT CHROME II'

Indonesian producer OOTORO returns to NIGHTMODE with 'CULT CHROME II', a 5-track EP that continues his previous project dedicated to experimenting with new sounds and textures beyond his existing catalog.

Making his name in Jakarta's bustling electronic music scene, OOTORO is an Indonesian producer that is rooted in underground club culture. Known for defying genre norms, he pulls influence across house, bass, UK garage, dubstep, disco, and other regional club sounds.

The EP opens with “SHAKEUP,” a track that pairs deep bass and trap-style beats with dancehall-inspired vocals and sharp synths. “CHANEL” is built on thick warping bass and a trap-style rhythm, driven by an upbeat, punchy drum pattern. “MOVELIKEUS” has distinct global influences, layering unusual textures that build into a bouncy drop. “MY MIND” combines a bouncy drum line with a leading pitch-bending synth that gives the track a uniquely distinct feel.

The closing track “Chainsaw” features OOTORO’s collaboration with French producer Basstrick, who is known for pushing the boundary of the trap and bass genre. “Chainsaw” is a hard-hitting trap track with an aggressive, industrial edge. Playful Japanese vocal loops and sharp synths pair with heavy 808 drums and eerie textures, building suspense over a bouncy club groove.

The EP’s lead singles "SHAKEUP," "CHANEL," and "MY MIND" have garnered live and mixshow support from Zeds Dead, Machine Drum, deadmau5, Darby, Alison Wonderland, Asdek, LUMBERJVCK, Siberian Express, Duckstworthsound, and more.

OOTORO has upcoming shows in China at Sounding, and XLab. Basstrick has high profile performances at Lollapalooza Paris, Rampage Open Air, and has earned tastemaker cosigns from DJ Snake, The Chainsmakers, Yellow Claw, Habstrakt, and SLANDER.
