Our Nameless Boy release Debut Album, Colour From The Doves
Our Nameless Boy are a Bristol based alt-rock band signed to Beth Shalom Records. Inspired by the emotionally charged ‘quiet/loud’ frenetic dynamics of the late ‘90s/‘00s US alternative scene, ONB bring their own brand of raucous energy to their performances, with songs that are both hard-hitting and subtle in their intricacies.
Their debut album, ‘Colour From The Doves’, is a sincere and difficult reflection on a year that songwriter Iain Gorrie spent recovering from a life threatening disease. Much like its subject matter, the album is orderless and unpredictable in its delivery, with a purposefully scattered narrative and sonics that will at times haunt and at others overwhelm.
Featuring the singles, Check Your Smile, Not Thinking Of Home, Less On The Mill and Heel, the track listing takes the listener through the unpredictable journey of Gorrie's diagnosis and recovery of cancer. Touching on the physical and mental difficulties involved, the impacts on relationships, the strange sense of guilt of being surrounded by people in even more difficult and dangerous situations than oneself.
Recorded at The Ranch Production House, Southampton, with long-time collaborator Daly George providing outstanding production, the sonics of the album complement these themes with delicate, haunting moments interspersed with a frenetic energy that, much like the scattered narrative, is intended to surprise, disorientate, and punch you in the gut.
