Out now on Helix: Maison Ware & Brux - “Hold On”
Maison Ware has chosen Helix Records as the new home for his ominous house sounds. His first release on the label is a collaborative single with producer/vocalist BRUX. The dark and twisty house track has a thudding bassline and breathy, looming vocals from BRUX. The versatile dance beat is is the first of many releases coming from Maison on Helix.
On the creation of the track, Maison says: “I wanted to merge the feeling of nostalgic, melodic-dance records I grew up on with the industrial, raw soundscape I've developed and fallen in love with over the years. I wrote the first draft of the instrumental to “Hold On” in the lead up to a zoom session with the super talented fellow Aussie, BRUX. I had been a fan of hers for years before this, so it was a session I was very hyped about. After very few minutes on the call we immediately clicked. After very little back and forth, Liz wrote the vocals and of course added some of her flavour on the production too, leading “Hold On” to being the complete version we both love today.”
BRUX adds; "Making this record with Maison was super special - we share a mutual interest in dance music with a touch of melancholy & found the perfect crossover of both our worlds with Hold On. It's an emotional & vulnerable vocal about a relationship that's breaking down, pleading with the other person to wait for you until you find your way back to them."
