Wet Velvet Joins Flight Week With 'Dance 4 Me' EP Featuring Life On Planets & SHADED via Dirtybird

Bay Area-based producer/DJ Wet Velvet is the latest addition to Dirtybird’s Flight Week series, arriving with his new two-track Dance 4 Me EP, out now. The ninth release from last year’s fruitful writing camp series includes collaborations with Life On Planets and SHADED.

After sneaking his way into the writing camp, Wet Velvet made the most of his unofficial Flight Week appearance with two knockout tracks. ‘Dance 4 Me’ keeps things slinky and understated, pairing droning basslines and crisp percussion with Life On Planets’ flirtatious topline. On the flip side, ‘Vice City’ shifts into a higher gear with SHADED, lacing deep bass pressure, zippering synths, and a sharp-tongued vocal into a late night club cut.

The EP represents a pivotal moment in the Flight Week series, capturing Dirtybird’s ongoing commitment to linking trusted flock favorites with the next generation of talent. Throughout the collection, Life On Planets has emerged as one of the series’ vocal drivers, while SHADED’s live house approach has brought a distinct flair to the writing sessions. Serving as the final release ahead of the upcoming Flight Week compilation, Dance 4 Me reflects the creative exchange at the heart of the series, with established Dirtybird artists helping cultivate new voices within the label’s ecosystem.

With a sound rooted in Chicago house and funk, Wet Velvet is a rising hometown addition to Dirtybird. He has released on imprints like Benthouse Records, Holy Molé, and Tech My House and remixed fellow Dirtybird act AMPRS&ND. Earlier this year, Wet Velvet made his debut on Dirtybird with his collaborative remix of Will Clarke and DJ Funk’s ‘Booty Percolatin'’ with TCHiLT. Dance 4 Me serves as Wet Velvet’s first solo original release on the label ahead of his performance at Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights this summer.

Dirtybird has nearly 400 releases on its main label, hosted beloved events like their Campout festival and traveling BBQ series, and built a dedicated and ever-growing fanbase. In that time, Dirtybird has racked countless accomplishments, like being named Mixmag’s ‘Label of the Decade’ in 2017 and profiled for DJ Mag’s North American cover feature in 2020. Now part of EMPIRE Dance since its acquisition in 2022, Dirtybird continues to bring their off-kilter beats and quirky spirit to the masses. In 2025, Dirtybird partnered with Northern Nights for the return of their flagship festival, Dirtybird Campout, and will host the second edition on July 17–19, 2026.
