Bustié’s releases new album "THROB"

Bustié is the project of Angelika Padilla, also known as Pogo Pope, working across dark electro, punk and club-driven sounds. Drawing from 80s freestyle and electro, UK punk, and the pulse of Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, the project builds what Padilla describes as “Anarcho Body Music”, rooted in both movement and message.

"THROB" brings together material developed over several years, tracing collaborations and personal shifts from 2019 to now. The record leans into dancefloor structures while keeping a strong connection to themes of identity, community and resistance. It also carries a personal weight, dedicated to Padilla’s late mother, who passed during the making of the album.

The album moves through electro, disco, acid and new jack swing influences. Tracks like “Lady of Dread” and “Perimeters of Love” show that range clearly, from darker club energy to more melodic and rhythmic moments. Across the record, the writing stays direct, touching on LGBTQ rights, transgender empowerment and broader social issues through a personal lens.

Bustié started in Los Angeles and is now based in Brooklyn, with a wider group of collaborators shaping the sound. The project has shared stages with artists such as Das Ich, Xiu Xiu and Linea Aspera, and continues to expand its live presence, with a U.S. tour scheduled shortly after the album’s release.

The album THROB is out now via Psychic Eye Records in digital and LP formats.
