Paul Mayson, Brodie Barclay - "Can't Trust The Way I Feel"

Paul Mayson is back with a song for the summer, releasing his new single ‘Can’t Trust The Way I Feel’ with Sony Music on July 30. The producer and DJ hasn’t gone unnoticed since his remake of Cher’s iconic 90s hit ‘Believe’ together with American Grammy nominee Saint Sinner, which was released earlier this year. Featured by 1001Tracklistsand many others, Paul got picked up by MTV becoming the MTV Push Artist of the month August 2021.

Mayson has always had a fascination for sampling and the early years of house music, where DJs started to alter disco records using drum computers and synthesizers to play them in nightclubs. "Sampling sounds and vocals and programming drums around it, that’s how I started producing." Paul is determined to bring back the positive feeling of the early house years, promising his fans uplifting and nostalgic dance records and sweaty and everlasting club nights. ‘Can’t Trust The Way I Feel’ takes fans up in the clouds with soulful samples, swaying chord progressions and echoing vocals before putting them back on the ground again with a pumping house groove. "I wanted to combine my love for house music with elements of soul as well as contemporary song writing to create a record that feels nostalgic and new at the same time. I often begin with the production and the groove and once that feels right, I start thinking about what else the record needs and what it means to me. The lyrics tell the story of getting lost in your own thoughts and feelings, which is something I think we can all relate to sometimes. The meaning and feeling of the record however are hopeful and positive and I love that contrast."
