Paulette Verlée shares "Tiens"

Paulette Verlée returns with a new single, “Tiens”, out now! After releasing two EP’s in 2025 “Adrift” and “So What”, Paulette Verlée, the musical alter ego of pianist-composer Veerle Pollet, known for her poetic piano work and genre-blurring approach, shares new work. Where the previous EP’s experimented more with ambient structures and a first set of songs with vocals (featuring Gaetan Vandewoude and Peter Van Dessel), Paulette Verlée goes back to the intimacy of neoclassical piano music on "Tiens”.

she explains: “A single word, ‘tiens’, a French exclamation that stops you in your tracks. Wonder, not explanation. This piece sets a tone that is both intimate and precise: a piano that speaks the way a person thinks, in half-sentences and sudden silences. It is the sound of encountering something beautiful and not yet knowing what to do with it.Paulette Verlée - Tiens

More about Paulette Verlée

Paulette Verlée is a Brussels-based composer and pianist who works at the intersection of neoclassical composition, electronic music and film music. Her work has a cinematic and timeless quality — soundtracks for imaginary films, built around the quiet power of the piano. Previously, Paulette released the albums choses vues à droite et à gauche (2022), Les Barricades Mystérieuses (2023) and En Attendant (2024). All titles hinting at references of Erik Satie, François Couperin and Samuel Beckett respectively. None other than Nils Frahm is a fan as well, having included Reprieve in his personal Spotify playlist.
