PengCo Music's Riddim 868 Makes iTunes Hot Tracks Chart

Trinidad-based PengCo Music ignites intentionally with the debut of its new dancehall compilation, Riddim 868, available worldwide from all major digital retailers on July 29, 2014, from FOX FUSE. Named after the area code of Trinidad and Tobago, the Riddim 868 blazes with two of the hottest artists from the twin island nation. Both tracks on the riddim are featured on the iTunes U.S. Reggae Hot Tracks chart, during its week of release.

Producer Randal Alexander captains the PengCo Music ship and crafted this hardcore dancehall beat that births both a gun tune and a gyal tune—something for the guys and the ladies.

Trinidadian dancehall sensation Swappi is armed with lyrical ammunition on “Protect Me,” as he pleads for protection from negative forces. While Trinidadian soca thriller Orlando Octave tells the ladies to “Twerk It,” in a racy, provocative club banger. Both tracks, along with the medley video for both songs, have been taking over playlists and airwaves at home in Trinidad and across the Caribbean. In fact, the video recently premiered on VEVO and has been steadily gaining attention from fans.

PengCo Music celebrates its third year in music production and has been successful from birth, after exploding onto the scene with its massively successful Android Riddim, which was the top compilation CD in Trinidad in 2011. Alexander previously produced under reggae collective Studio 53, which was at the forefront of the Trinidadian reggae movement. However, as is obvious with the Riddim 868, Alexander and PengCo Music play outside the box from the soca or calypso sounds for which Trinidad is most known. Their reggae and dancehall releases have been putting Trinidad on the map as a major player for reggae and dancehall and Riddim 868 continues this rich tradition for the groundbreaking producer.
