London trio Ifulki announce debut ep | out 4/12

Emerging from the heart of London’s vibrant jazz community, electronic-soul trio IFULKI have officially announced their debut EP, Something Greater, arriving 4th December via Source / [PIAS]. The announcement is heralded by the arrival of their compelling new single, Eyes On Us, expanding on the vision introduced by the EP’s resonant title track.

Driven by an irresistible, percussion-heavy groove, new single Eyes On Us captures the band at their most infectious and danceable. Led by a soulful, jazzy piano line, the track invites listeners to lose themselves completely in the movement. It balances an effortless, kinetic energy with deep-seated soul, serving as an uplifting centrepiece for the upcoming EP and a testament to the group's live, improvisational roots.

The band's lead, Queen Kaltoum adds, “Eyes On Us is a jazzy-house anthem, bringing elements of Moroccan and West-African music to meet head on with 90's house. It’s a song that celebrates who you are and reminds you to not lose track of yourself and your potential. Don't be put down!”

Formed by vocalist and songwriter Queen Kaltoum alongside collaborators Charlie Flynn and Ayman Sinada, IFULKI was born from a fundamental belief in music's capacity to unite people through hope, connection, and shared experience. Rather than remaining within rigid genres, the band serves as a meeting point for their diverse influences — merging the freedom of jazz improvisation with the emotional depth of electronic music, trip-hop, and soul, all anchored by the philosophy of Queen Kaltoum’s Amazigh heritage.

Having spent years performing across London’s most celebrated venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Cafe and Village Underground — and collaborating with boundary-pushing acts like Kokoroko, Nubyan Twist, Sokkyo, and Blue Lab Beats, the trio brings a rich culture of open collaboration to their recorded debut.

Driven by spacious electronics, hypnotic rhythms, and instinctive interplay, IFULKI’s music prioritises deep feeling over technical perfection. That vision is anchored directly in the philosophy behind their name and heritage:

“‘Ifulki’ means ‘beautiful’ in the Amazigh language,” Queen Kaltoum explains. “It’s a celebration of the beautiful people and beautiful connections we encounter in this life. I’m Moroccan, and I come from the Amazigh people, an Indigenous people from North Africa,” she continues. “I want to pay homage to my ancestors. They’ve carried such a strong sense of community through generations, and that’s something I want to celebrate.”

For Queen Kaltoum, beauty exists in kindness, generosity, and solidarity — values that quietly shape every aspect of IFULKI’s creative vision and fuel the spirit of both their single Eyes On Us and the Something Greater EP.

Rooted in this vision, the band feels a constant drive to build music around shared human connection. Recognising that modern society can often feel isolating and individualistic, IFULKI use their platform to reflect the necessity of mutual support and global solidarity. Through their new music, they emphasise that even in an era of division, small individual acts of care, compassion, and action hold the collective power to inspire meaningful change and build something better together.
