Plàsi announces new EP with single Mystery

Singer-songwriter Plàsi releases his new EP Mystery in September on the Canadian record label Nettwerk (Passenger, Angus & Julia Stone, Hollow Coves). The eponymous single Mystery is out now.

Mystery is the follow up to his debut album People and was recorded in his homeland Sweden. The new EP takes his sound one step further, with the help of the Swedish producers Linus Hasselberg and Hannes Hasselberg. Plàsi explains: “I think we found a good balance with the producers between new elements and my previous sound. The high level of creativity in the studio could have added endless of flavours into my songs, but my tendency to hold back the complexity of the productions matched perfectly with the producers ability to bring in new ideas.” The productions are mixed by Canadian Tyler Neil Johnson, who stands behind some of Joshua Hyslop and Austin Basham’s productions.

Plàsi is a Swedish songwriter, musician, and producer with Greek roots. He was born on the island of Crete with a Greek father but was mainly raised in Sweden with his mother where he moved by the age of four. His sound is often compared to his sources of inspiration within the acoustic indie folk genre such as José González, Tallest Man on Earth and Kings of Convenience. Plàsi’s sound is known for its stripped down productions combined with acoustic elements.

The single and head title Mystery was written during a dark night by the foggy sea, where he has spent a lot of time since his last release. After many train and ferry rides between Sweden and Denmark the song came to him during one of his walks next to the shore. “The sea at night gives me a mystic feeling of always being followed by someone without knowing the reason. A feeling of presence that is sketchy at first, but that gives you strength the more you embrace it. Mystery is an attempt to picture that with sound and lyrics.” Watch the teaser for the single below.
