Post-punk band Cucamaras release new single Porcelain

British post-punk band Cucamaras release their new single Porcelain and announce a new EP which will be out in May 2023 via EXAG Records. The EP was recorded at York’s Young Thugs Studios with producer Jonny Hooker. Porcelain is out now.

Following on from their EP Soft Soap, which included the single Winners Chapel, Cucamaras have returned with their latest single Porcelain. Leaning into as yet unchartered musical waters for the Nottingham post-punk four piece, formed of Josh Hart (guitar/vocals), Olly Bowley (guitar/vocals), Dan McGrathand (bass) and Joe Newton (drums). The band have retained the energy of their earlier EP whilst adding a variety of elements which are present in this release and others to come. With a driving synth and subtle guitar hooks, the track, initially penned by Bowley and Hart in a bedroom during the recesses of lockdown, tells the pessimistic tale of stationary success. Who is anyone else to tear up their bigger picture? A bigger picture that is as fragile as Porcelain.

The track and new EP aim to continue the success obtained throughout 2022, which included festival appearances at the prestigious Left of the Dial Festival in Rotterdam, Bruis Festival in Maastricht as well a variety of UK and European dates. In recent months, Cucamaras have received acclaim from BBC Introducing, were featured in NME’s Best New Bands playlist and had write ups in Clash and Dork. Cucamaras are set to begin the new year with a number of singles and an EP, as well as dates in the UK, Europe and further afield.
