Cløudy Skies (Fra) releases Bury Me Beneath The Stars

Formed in 2019 on the outskirts of Paris, Cløudy Skies is a French dreamgaze / atmospheric post-metal duo built around Lionel Forest (vocals, bass, synths) and Nicolas Simon (guitar, synths). Their sound isn’t meant to soothe—it haunts: a slow-burn collision of post-rock cinematic dynamics and post-metal weight, blurred by shoegaze textures and edged with blackgaze-leaning extremity. At the core of their sound lies a careful balance between clean guitar tones and crushing heaviness, with harmonized guitar lines and evolving structures shaping an immersive and emotional musical language.

In 2023, the duo released their debut full-length Changes via Argonauta Records, defining the band’s DNA: cinematic immersion, suspended calm turning abruptly into crushing eruptions, and vocals shifting between unsettling clarity and raw extremity.

Changes didn’t simply introduce a band—it mapped a territory: clouded horizons and oppressive light, with the persistent feeling that something beautiful is watching you from the dark.

In 2026, Cløudy Skies return to Argonauta Records with Bury Me Beneath the Stars, a record reinforces all the foundations laid on Changes while opening a new extreme, aerial and progressive dimension. Produced by Lionel Forest (lfoprd), the album features two guest vocalists who expand its emotional and extreme spectrum : Chris Richard of blackgaze act Nature Morte brings a raw, spectral presence that blurs the line between fragility and despair, while Keijo Niiminaa of grindcore pioneers Rotten Sound injects moments of visceral intensity, adding an abrasive edge to the album’s already formidable weight. Conny Pettersson, drummer of the Swedish death metal band ANATA, once again oversaw the album’s drum recordings, delivering a powerful and precise performance that firmly anchors its dynamics.

The artwork for Bury Me Beneath the Stars features “The Levity of Summer”, a photograph by Samantha Muljat, chosen for its fragile, suspended atmosphere—an image that perfectly mirrors the band’s universe, where beauty and menace coexist beneath the surface.

Blurring the line between sound and image, Cløudy Skies continue to explore the space where post-rock scale, post-metal mass, and blackgaze darkness merge—crafting slow, immersive rituals designed to pull the listener under, with no clear surface left.

Bury Me Beneath the Stars will be released in two formats: a 6-track vinyl edition and a 7-track CD edition including one exclusive bonus track. The lead single “Depth Spell” is an intense composition running over ten minutes, built as a gradual, immersive progression. Moving through evolving layers of atmosphere and dynamics, the track unfolds as a descent suspended between dream and reality. It is accompanied by a striking music video that extends its hypnotic, abyssal pull.
