Spaceman releases Read Only Memory

Canadian musician Zach MacDonald is the mastermind behind the solo band Spaceman. He developed his distinct sound with ProgFox and Greedo Compressor before starting Spaceman in 2025. He is a highly productive songwriter, releasing five albums in 2025 alone, including Vapordeath, a high level technical thrash extravaganza with fretless bass, tight rhythms, and some mind blowing lead guitar.

Spaceman’s latest album is Read Only Memory, and it’s out now on cd via Spinebuster Entertainment. There are ten songs which showcase Zach’s technical ability as he pays homage to revered cult bands like Watchtower, Voivod, Coroner, Realm, and Toxik, but he adds his own flair and fresh sound. He already has guitar skills that recall early Steve Vai and a quirkiness sure to please the Devin Townsend fans.

Spinebuster Entertainment is a new record label created by Brett Van Put, who is best known as the editor for Transcending the Mundane. Transcending the Mundane was a print magazine from 1997-2006 and then was resurrected in 2023 as a digital entity. Spinebuster Entertainment was originally conceived by Tom Destefano from the band Monday Knights and owner of the legendary record store, None of the Above Records, on Long Island. Brett and Tom partnered for the Spinebuster Entertainment venture, but it was cut short by Tom’s tragic death. Now, Spinebuster Entertainment is back and Spaceman’s Read Only Memory is the label’s first release.
