Psych-rockers All Them Witches to release self titled fifth studio album

The Nashville based experimentalists psych-rockers All Them Witches have announced their fifth studio album. The self-titled album is due September 28th on New West Records. as a teaser, the band has shared the fuzzed out, organ drenched, album opener "Fishbelly 86 Onions". By most fifth records, a band’s sound is pretty set, but All Them Witches go a harder route. In 2017, the Nashville four-piece offered what might have become their own future template with the fourth album, "Sleeping Through the War". It brought a larger production value thanks to oversight from producer Dave Cobb and found them using choral vocals, expanded arrangements, bigger sounds than anything they’d done before. They could’ve easily fallen into a pattern of clones of that well received record. So naturally in a year they’ve thrown it all to the Appalachian wind, turned the process completely on its head and gone the other way: recording in a cabin in Kingston Springs about 20 miles outside of Nashville on I-40, with guitarist Ben McLeod at the helm. Self-produced.The result, mixed by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith, Kurt Vile), is the most intimate, human-sounding album All Them Witches have recorded and another redefinition of who they are as a band.

All Them Witches about the first single: "FISHBELLY 86 ONIONS is a jumbo-sized grease trap sandwich, stuffed with everything we love and don’t need, and everything we think we need, but can’t find, and everything we find only to realize that the shiny coating rotted off years ago, and the chrome is dented, and the makeup is smeared, and the ideals are confused, and the people have contorted themselves into off-brand cartoon characters. It is entertainment (for a price), and all of the too-cool nobodies that can’t look anyone else in the eyes for fear of exposing their fraudulent nature. It is my hometown, complete with every rusty train track. It is the pains of having a hometown. It is a sloppy 1 take party, hold the onions please."
