R3HAB remixes ‘Drop A Bomb’, from the hot Canadian electro pop act Riotron and the queen of bounce Big Freedia
Trailblazing billion-streaming and multi-platinum DJ/producer R3HAB puts his unique spin on ‘Drop A Bomb’, the latest track from acclaimed Canadian electro-pop act Riotron and the multi-talented queen of bounce music Big Freedia, who, among her many acheivements, recently collaborated with Beyonce on her internet-breaking single ‘Break My Soul’. R3HAB expertly transforms the already fun fueled, high energy song into an electro house heater primed for both mainstages and late night clubs, adding Riotron into the rarified ranks of artists such as Rihanna, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Calvin Harris, who have all received that special R3HAB remix touch.
In the words of R3HAB, “this song is just as explosive as its title and I've had a great time creating a remix. I bumped up the BPM, chopped up the vocals, and brought the production firmly into the house genre. I can't wait to add this to my sets.”
“R3HAB is one of the biggest DJs in the world because he’s an amazing songwriter first,” says Jeff Fettes of Riotron, “He made a “Drop A Bomb” that’s not just a cool house mix, but a totally elevated version of the song.”
A song about being yourself fearlessly without worrying who you will offend, “Drop A Bomb” is a perfect fit for summer and will have the club crowd going crazy. What about the song piqued Freedia’s interest? “The beat, the energy and the message!” she declares.
Jeff Fettes, best known as the musical act Riotron, reached out to mutual friends to ask if Big Freedia would join him on the song, thinking Freedia’s style would be an interesting contrast to his. Says Jeff about the song, “I had wanted a throwback 90’s style rap interlude on the song and thought, imagine if someone like Big Freedia just exploded into a 3rd verse right here. Freedia was on tour and stopped into a studio in Cincinnati for an evening and just did it. The first time I heard it, I jumped out of my chair and said, Yes! This!” Says Freedia about connecting on the song, “ we have been mutual fans of each other for a while, so I was happy to collaborate on this.” Check out this video interview that the two artists, both proud members of the LGBTQ community, did for GLAAD recently here.
“Drop A Bomb” is Riotron’s second single this summer, following the acclaimed “Life Is What We’re Living.” That song was accompanied by the much-googled video starring Tyler Posey and ‘80s film icon Lea Thompson, and remixes by Mahalo and dance music icon Paul Oakenfold.
