Racines Announces Debut Album "ARILOS MENNAR"; Debut Single "MARKET MIRACOLO" Out Now

Racines, the electronic duo formed by artists Rokeya and Anissa, today announces their debut album “Arilos Mennar”, out June 5 via Locomotiv Records, alongside the release of the first single “Market Miracolo”.

Seeds, fire, roots. Racines is a project that weaves together plural identities and imaginaries, setting tradition and contemporaneity in dialogue, archaic sonorities and electronics.

The first single, “Market Miracolo”, is an anthem to an inner journey, where love, shadow and light intertwine in constant dialogue. “At the heart of the narrative is the symbol of the market: a living, pulsating space made of cultures, languages and encounters”, say Racines. A metaphor for the world and the human experience: a place of crossings where stories, identities and sounds intertwine and shape a collective narrative in constant transformation.

"Arilos Mennar" is a tension held open. Arilos are the seeds of the pomegranate, a fruit loaded with meaning across the Mediterranean: resilience, rebirth, death, life, union. Mennar, from Algerian Arabic, means "from fire": a primal, generative feminine force. Racines lift these seeds from the earth — the mother of traditions — and set them ablaze with the energy of electronics.

The album moves between pulsating rhythms and different languages, in a sonic landscape that belongs to no single place — and inhabits them all. Contemporary electronics, ancestral traditions, global imaginaries: a journey that takes root in the past and burns toward the future.

The lyrics reflect this plurality without hierarchy: Arabic, Italian, Spanish, French and Ladino merge into a single voice. An exploration of the sound of words even before their meaning — stories, resilience and desire emerging from the very matter of language.

The sonic dimension is crafted with care and precision. The percussion of Taha Ennouri and Ali Belazi amplifies the ritual; the wind instruments of Carmelo Colajanni — duduk, bagpipe, bansuri, arghul, overtone flute — open evocative spaces; Simone Santarelli’s oud adds timbral depth. On the track "Nari", the production of the mysterious Borda delivers a hypnotic explosive force that fully embodies the universe of the album.

The feminine runs through the entire work as both perspective and poetics — a force that generates connections and new imaginaries. A vision reflected also in the visuals: the artwork is by Marie Cécile, the visual production by Andreola Mejia.
