Recollection release transportive new single "Turntable" | Intrusive Thoughts EP out 8/28 on DAZE
Recollection release transportive new single "Turntable"
On their new single “Turntable,” out today, Recollection are capturing how it feels to hear a song attached to a strong memory. Through their hardcore roots and indie rock influence, the band delivers a tune built on nostalgia while hitting with sharp vocals and catchy melodies that feel current. The chorus hooks into you brain - “What’s that song? What’s that playing on the turntable? / I got deja vu, it reminds of you every time it plays” - primed to be attached to new memories made while listening to it. The single is the latest off the band’s upcoming Intrusive Thoughts EP, set for release August 28th through DAZE, following the release of the title track.

Speaking on “Turntable,” vocalist Josh Hynes shares:
“Turntable is about hearing a song that immediately pulls you out of where you’re at and transports you abruptly back to a specific time in your life. For me I could be living my current day in a life as a business owner and family man, but when the song ‘Brigade Loco’ by Vanilla Muffins plays it transports me back to a very specific and important time in my life. I can still remember those friends and that summer in Manchester when I first heard that song and driving around the city not knowing what the days and nights were going to consist of. Scary, exciting, and unpredictable at the very least.”
Originally formed between vocalist Josh Hynes (Rude Awakening, Hammer Bros) and guitarist Joshua Long (Skinhead, Criminal Instinct, Rude Awakening, Hammer Bros) coping with grief after the loss of a friend, the band debuted in 2025 with the striking Vivid Dreams EP (Pop Wig). Rounded out by bassist G (Hammer Bros, The World), drummer Snooka (Life’s End), guitarist Matt March (Hard Cah), and guitarist Joe Bradshaw (Stab), the members of Recollection have crafted four songs that are as dynamic as they are nostalgic with Intrusive Thoughts. Each track resonates on a different period of life, from “Lost In Translation,” navigating through finding your place in the modern world, to “Son” on the changes brought on you when becoming a parent.
Intrusive Thoughts was produced and mixed by Taylor Young at The Pit with additional tracking by Eric Sauter at Black Heart Sound. The EP is available on CD and vinyl preorder now though DAZE, with the CD including the band’s Vivid Dreams EP remixed and remastered.
Recollection will support Koyo on three free shows in the northeast this August and have a New Hampshire date with Death Before Dishonor in September. More details below.
