Two visionary producers collide on “REQUIEM,” the latest entry in Insomniac’s BREAK ROOM catalog, arriving January 16th. Crafted by Arizona-based experimentalist REMNANT.exe and Philadelphia’s hardwave innovator KTrek, the single plunges into a world where trap, wave, and future garage converge—a genre-bending statement from two artists whose shared wavelength has been years in the making.

Built with mechanical precision and cinematic intent, “REQUIEM” unfolds like a lucid dream in motion. Tight breakbeat percussion and thunderous sub-bass sequences anchor its pulse, while hazy melodic layers, crystalline vocal textures, and a soaring hook carve open the track’s otherworldly center. The composition evolves from meticulous sound design into a euphoric hardwave finale—a climactic rush that feels both visceral and transcendent.

Shedding long on their longstanding history sharing the stage, which led to the collab’s conception, REMNANT.exe says, “I first discovered KTrek’s music around 2019-2020, and since then we’ve consistently found ourselves operating the same spaces, both online and off, culminating with us touring a b2b set together on a string of shows with Ravenscoon in 2023-24. That was also when we started working on ‘REQUIEM,’ and it really did take about two and a half years for us to fully realize the vision of this song. I think we nailed the combo of our respective sounds in this one, and I’m super excited to finally share it with the world!”

Inviting listeners to lose their grip on reality as the immersive nature of the track sinks in, KTrekintroduces the single, saying, “Get lost in the ether. I hope you enjoy.”

After discovering KTrek’s music in 2019, REMNANT.exe found a kindred force navigating similar sonic terrain. Their mutual affinity for cinematic storytelling through bass culminated in a series of back-to-back sets, including a standout appearance at Symmetry Music & Arts Festival and a run of Ravenscoon’s ‘Periphery’ Tour dates a few years prior. The long road to “REQUIEM,” which has been in the works since the string of nationwide b2b dates, continually evolving its production in that time, the collab reflects a shared pursuit of balance between precision and chaos, structure and emotion.

For REMNANT.exe, “REQUIEM” extends the artistic arc that has earned him recognition as one of wave’s most forward-thinking figures. Following his standout appearance on Hex Cougar’s ‘Visions’ EPvia BREAK ROOM, his catalog continues to blur the boundaries between future garage, drum and bass, and trap. His collaborations with Deadcrow, vowl., juuku, and Bebi, alongside remixes for Seven Lions and Pauline Herr, have drawn global support from BBC Radio 1, Alison Wonderland, Illenium, Zeds Dead, and San Holo, with coverage across DJ Culture Mag, UFO Network, and Fresh Music Freaks.

KTrek carries the torch for hardwave’s next generation. Known for his darkly futuristic sound design and cyberpunk-tinged trap hybrids, he’s cultivated a following through immersive production and in-house vocal work that lend his tracks a cinematic edge. With over 35 million cumulative streams and endorsements from Illenium, Deadcrow, Krewella, Heimanu, KTrek has established himself as a vital architect within the global wave movement.

Together, they channel their distinct aesthetics into a single unified vision: “REQUIEM” stands as both homage and evolution, bridging the introspective textures of wave with the explosive energy of modern trap. It’s the sound of two artists expanding the edges of their respective worlds, building something that feels as timeless as it does futuristic.
