Beyond is Resistor’s first album since 2023
Three tracks, forty-four minutes, one continuous arc. Beyond is Resistor’s first album since 2023’s Illuminator, and the most ambitious record the band has made: an opening salute to the music that started it all, a wordless flight in the middle, and a twenty-four minute title suite that follows one consciousness out past the edge of itself and back again.
Resistor came together in Providence, Rhode Island in 2005, when multi- instrumentalist Steve Unruh began jamming on lunch breaks with bassist and electronics engineer Rob Winslow. Drummer Barry Farrands and guitarist Fran Turner completed the lineup, and the four have kept a standing rehearsal ever since. Nearly two decades on, Resistor remains what it started as: a band of friends who build every song together in the room before a note of it is recorded.
Since their self-titled 2008 debut they have released Rise, To The Stars, Underground, The 5th Season and Illuminator, and carried those songs to festival stages including RoSfest and ProgStock.
