Rip Pop Mutant (We are Wolves) Reveals Video "Terrasse Glacier" | 'Fluxus Pop' Out Now

Rip Pop Mutant, the solo project of We are Wolves’ Alex Ortiz, today reveals the video for “Terrasse Glacier”. The track is taken from his debut LP Fluxus Pop which is out now via Simone Records.

All the scans featured in the video were captured using a technique called photogrammetry, a technique that ensembles hundreds of images together to create a 3D model that can be manipulated using an animation software. All editing, filming and scans were done by director Eddie Raven, who harvested most of the buildings & objects from the Mile-End area of Montreal.

Speaking on the making of the video director Eddie Raven says, “This project was quite a lot of fun for me personally. Truly a collaborative effort with Rip Pop Mutant who contributed to the overall vibe & direction of the music video. Poetic digital punk esthetique, meandering through digital fields sort of vibe. Trying to avoid cliched video concepts and ideas while making sure to not exclude any of the more curious, interesting digital mistakes and glitches.”

Fluxus Pop is a 13-track album of minimal mutant music featuring a refined sound, repetitive rhythms, and linear bass. The track, “Et Si Jamais” was featured on CBC’s Top 100 Canadian Songs of 2022. DIY to the bone, Ortiz, a former arts student, created Fluxus Pop from scratch with the help of Adrian Popovich (ex-Tricky Woo) and the record was mastered by Oliver Ackermann (A Place to Bury Strangers).

Fluxus Pop was heavily inspired by the FLUXUS art movement, an international avant-garde collective of artists and composers found in the 1960s and rooted in experimental music. The movement was named after a magazine which featured the work of musicians and artists centred around composer John Cage.

Alexander Ortiz never took music lessons and doesn't know how to read or write a single note. This didn't stop him from co-founding the electro-punk group We Are Wolves in 2000. Since then, the band has released five albums and several EPs and singles, along with performing hundreds of times alongside International Noise Conspiracy, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Death From Above 1979, Bloc Party, Gorillaz, and Indochine... So much for music lessons!
