UK Launch Parties for 'Kenion Street'

In celebration of an incredible new compilation which features fresh interpretations of tracks by legendary acts like the Stone Roses, The Fall, Happy Mondays, New Order, The Chameleons and more; Alcopop records (who release the limited edition orange vinyl on 7 August) are hosting a series of special listening parties across the nation.

At 3pm on Saturday 8th August, 'Rochdale Hour' will be taking over Rough Trade record shops in Bristol, Liverpool, Nottingham and London. With an opportunity to hear the album in-full, the events will also be offering free beers from Heywood's Phoenix Brewery, with LOUD! goody bags up for grabs.

Speaking about the album and event, Jack Clothier of Alcopop records says:

“The album sounds incredible, and you NEED to hear it, so we’re linking up with our good friends at Rough Trade to bring ROCHDALE HOUR to London (Rough Trade East), Bristol, Nottingham and Liverpool. From 3pm on Saturday 8th August, we’d like to invite you to come listen to our first Rochdale Music Stories album, Kenion Street, have a couple of beautifully brewed beers from Heywood’s own Phoenix Brewery (on us of course) – and take home a gift bag of lovely Rochdale based things (limited stock).”

Tickets for 'Rochdale Hour’ are free, but limited, and available now as follows:

Rochdale boasts a rich and diverse musical legacy: from Gracie Fields to The Courteeners, Lisa Stansfield to Autechre and where groundbreaking music continues to thrive. And between 1977-2001, it was home to both Suite 16 and Cargo Studios on Kenion Street, Rochdale, where trailblazing artists like OMD, Inspiral Carpets, A Certain Ratio, The Fall, Stone Roses, The Chameleons, Happy Mondays, and Joy Division - among countless others - recorded some of their best work.

Fast forward to 2025/26 and Rochdale is Greater Manchester Town of Culture, with the Rochdale Development Agency launching ‘Rochdale Music Stories’ – an exciting collaboration between The Stockport Music Story, Voltalab Sound Studios and Alcopop! Records.

Funded by Arts Council England, Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Borough Council as part of this innovative project, emerging Rochdale artists have reimagined classic tracks that were recorded at both Cargo and Suite Sixteen studios, for a new album due for a compilation release called ‘Kenion Street’, available on a limited-edition orange vinyl on 7th August.

To further celebrate this legacy, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Peter Hook & The Light and A Certain Ratio will play a huge gig in Rochdale on 7th August to pay homage to the town where their recording careers began and to herald the Album’s release. Final remaining tickets on sale now - available HERE.

Recorded and Produced by Jamie Alsop at Voltalab Sound Studios, the upcoming album ‘Kenion Street’ will be released on limited-edition orange vinyl and via digital platforms on 7th August. The pre-save link is now live for the digital version of the album.
