Rosemary & Garlic returns with sweeping new single “Beautiful”

Dutch dream pop/folk act Rosemary & Garlic, lead by Anne van den Hoogen, return with new single “Beautiful.” It’s a wonderfully atmospheric slice of delicate melancholy, all underpinned by van den Hoogen’s sublime vocals.

"For our (debut) EP and album I often wrote about loss, growing up, outsiders, loneliness and letting go, but never in a dark or depressed way,” van den Hoogen explained. “Also every song always has something soothing to it, a touch of love, a tone that heals and gives comfort. In ‘Beautiful' I’ve put love, and especially that comforting part, plainly up front.”

“Beautiful” also marks the beginning of a new chapter for the band, following the departure of co-founding member Dolf Smolenaers. “I am actually shy but somehow I felt confident to put myself in front and keep on producing songs for Rosemary & Garlic.” van den Hoogen added. “It’s just a very precious project to me. I guess what was left after Dolf left the band was me, so I started from there.”

Rosemary & Garlic recorded and self-released their debut EP “The Kingfisher” in 2014.
