Sam Tudor Shares "Perennials"

Vancouver’s Sam Tudor today shares the third single, “Perennials”, to be taken from his forthcoming album, Two Half Words, which is set for release later this spring. “Perennials” is available now on all music services.

Speaking on the track Sam says, " It’s a song about watching the people in my life struggle under the weight each of them carry, and the joy in watching them come to life when that weight is lifted.

In times like those, one can only hope we re-emerge with grace, having learned something. Perennials get crushed each winter but the root stock holds on throughout. It is often a cyclical process.

I hope I can accept that cyclical nature moving into this spring.

Despite being the name of an individual, Sam Tudor is very much a collective project and features players from bands Bernice, U.S Girls, Tasseomancy, Omhouse and Charlotte Cornfield. Recorded in both Toronto and Vancouver, Sam finished Two Half Words last March, as the world entered lock down, in the remote Gavin Lake Camp, in rural interior BC, where Sam grew up. The camp has since transformed into an artist residency over the years and is featured in the video “Everybody’s Keeping Their Word” .

The underpinnings of Tudor’s music are genre-less; jazz players join forces with Eno inspired beats while acoustic guitars meet distorted synths. What unifies the project is Tudor’s distinct voice: a sandy, melancholic narrator, leaning in close with writing that is often an act of self-exposure - a confessional and cathartic outpouring.
