SASAMI release video for new single Make It Right
- “With each single she releases from her upcoming album Squeeze, the Los Angeles artist Sasami Ashworth shows off another subgenre of rock that she can pull off with effortless and idiosyncratic style.” The New York Times
- "For a song just over two-and-a-half minutes, 'Skin a Rat' lands a whole bunch of different blows, each harder and more unexpected than the last. And, like all good rock & roll bruisings, the moment it’s over, you’re ready to spin it back for more." Rolling Stone
- “A collection of tracks that sound like she’s digging her nails into the walls of a black hole in an attempt to escape, her mood alternating between feverish determination and clear-eyed hope.” Pitchfork
- "Trent Reznor would be proud." The FADER
- “Remarkable” Loud & Quiet 8/10
- "A taunting, pummeling blast of noxious noise. It’s a fearsome re-introduction to SASAMI, one that’s less focused on pleasing and more interested in provocation." Stereogum
- “Sasami forces you to pay attention” Uncut 8/10
SASAMI releases a video for “Make It Right,” the final single from her highly anticipated new album Squeeze, out this Friday (Feb 25th) via Domino. The video was directed by Euphoria costume designer Heidi Bivens, styled by Euphoria assistant costume designer Angelina Vitto, with make-up by Euphoria and Pen15 make-up artist Alexandra French.
Of the song and video, SASAMI says “‘Make It Right’ is an ode to Fleetwood Mac’s more tantrum-y vibes with a hair of Crass-y marching snare. She’s a desperation bop about not being communicated with. I love a fuzzy riff. Need more guitar riffs in 2022. The video is a collaboration with some of my good friends and style icons Heidi Bivens, Angelina Vitto, Alexandra French and a whole team of absolute legends. Heidi has an incredible eye for beauty, shapes, and mystery."
SASAMI’s headline tour in support of Squeeze kicks off next week on March 4th. The tour also includes dates with Haim in the US and Mitski in EU. All dates below.
SASAMI, who was recently named an Artist You Need To Know by Rolling Stone, was also selected by Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner for Variety’s ‘Up Next’ series, where she was asked to pick the artist she believes is going to be the next big thing, saying “what SASAMI is doing musically is that perfect blend of music that can be really heavy and hard and aggressive but is also melodic and enjoyable and catchy.”
