Scandi-Celtic duo Amilost explore heartbreak on new EP ‘Chapters of a Heartbreak’ - Out May 7th via Icons Creating Evil Art

Following a year of single releases, London-based alt pop duo amilost are set to release their sophomore EP Chapters of a Heartbreak on May 7th via Icons Creating Evil Art.

This 5-track offering represents a creative evolution for the duo, composed of Norwegian vocalist Sigrid Zeiner and Scottish drummer Ross Craib, who forge a new sound from a cathartic experience of dealing with heartbreak. True to the album’s title, lead singer Sigrid explores the chapters of a breakup in this album, including wrestling with the emotions of letting go, finding back to yourself and looking forward to the future. As a result of their continued evolution, the duo have established themselves as a rising presence in the world of alt pop with a mix of what they call “Scandinavian pop with a touch of cinematic grandeur”.

“Chapters of a Heartbreak is a healing process from end of relationship to re-discovering life and going through the emotions.” they add “Looking back at the process of writing it I don’t think we saw it coming, exactly how much it now makes sense for this EP to exist.”

The collection is largely influenced by producer Mark Elliott, who helped the duo unlock a new layer to their music, pushing them out of their comfort zone to a new ‘version’ of themselves. “We wanted to develop our sound and push things grittier, grander, more true and heartfelt,” the band explains. Through trips to Mark’s studio in Leicestershire, where they immersed fully in their creative process without any outside distraction, the band’s sound is more grand and powerful.

More focus needs to be given to the final single from the album, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, an enchanting and mesmerising alt-pop tune where lush vocals from Sigrid mesh with an upbeat, pseudo-electronic instrumental. “I’ll Never Fall In Love again is about leaving a relationship and feeling so spent and broken by it, that you never want to fall in love again,” the band explains, adding “It’s about feeling like it changed you so much that you just can’t shake the feeling of being with them, even though you really want to.”

The Scottish/Norwegian duo's journey began with their debut single Pillowside, which earned significant airplay on Norway's leading station NRK P3 with over 500 plays. Their debut EP Introspective Souvenirs marked them as ones to watch, landing spots on prestigious playlists including Apple's New Music Daily and New In Alternative & Indie & Chill, alongside Spotify's Fresh Finds: Pop and New Music Friday.

2024 marked a breakthrough after signing with Stockholm based label Icons Creating Evil Art. Their single Bloom earned acclaim from Earmilk and Metal Magazine, while Tiny War became a viral sensation on TikTok with over 20 million views. Their live performances have impressed audiences from Norway's by:Larm to London's Omeara, including a couple BBC Introducing live sessions and support for Tom Speight at Islington Assembly Hall.

Drawing inspiration from Aurora, London Grammar and Phoebe Bridgers, amilost creates music that transforms personal experiences into universal emotional landscapes. Following their slot at Eurosonic ENSN Festival 2025, they continue to push boundaries in the alternative pop scene.
