Scarlett O’Hanna Releases Haunting Harmonium Version of “Stick with You”
"Do you feel like taking a sound bath?" asks O’Hanna, releasing an entirely acoustic version of her indie-rock ballad Stick with you. Exclusively released on bandcamp, the track thrives on thick harmonium layers driven by O’Hanna compelling voice. "I recorded it live in a deconsecrated chapel in France (hello Paf). You’ll hear the harmonium that’s been there for centuries. Isn’t it fascinating what you can do only with air?"
‘It’s not who shines but where the light comes from’ is a line that stays. Like other songs on Precious Nothings, ‘Stick with you’ encapsulates the singer-songwriter’s insights about interpersonal relationships in wise lyrics that make you think. Opening with ’I won’t do the work for you in the name of love / But I can stick with you / As we go’.
Scarlett O’Hanna confides: "I wrote Stick with You after a heated conversation, thinking there are times you need to let go seeking to be heard, understood or seen, by somebody committed to not listening. And there are moments you feel you need to try one last time."
Shot in Stockholm, the videoclip of the album version was directed in collaboration with Swedish director Victoria Verseau (Trans Memoria Festival de Cannes 2023, UN Women Sweden). It stars O’Hanna, who produced it, alongside Swedish actor Oliver Andersson, with cinematographer Daniel Takács behind the camera (X&Y, After Work).
