Singer/Songwriter Shaun Jacobs set to release new single "Say You Will Remember Me" on 30 April
South African singer/songwriter Shaun Jacobs releases his new single "Say You Will Remember Me", available on all digital platforms today. Jacobs was inspired to write this upbeat and playful song, encapsulating his personal desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of the people he loves. When listening to “Say You Will Remember Me,” listeners are captivated by the tranquility of the track, with lyrics emphasizing the importance of self-exploration.
“It's easy to say, “remember me,” but when people listen to this song, I want them to think about how and why you would like to be remembered,” said Jacobs. “Hopefully, it will be because of what you are giving to this world, not what you’re taking from it.”
“Say You Will Remember Me” first came together when Sergio David Martinez, an up-and-coming producer, spontaneously sent Jacobs an instrumental EDM track via Instagram. Discovering Jacobs on SoundCloud, Martinez knew he had to do everything in his power to get him on the song and Jacobs was immediately enamored by the track, having decided to rework it into a more acoustic style.
The pair have never worked together before but were able to connect through social media to produce this uplifting song, emphasizing the power of social media in today’s society.
“Without social media and technology, this wouldn’t have been able to happen – especially during the pandemic,” said Martinez. “I’m in Mexico and Shaun is in the U.S, so we never would have met if it wasn’t for Instagram! I’m so glad it worked out the way it did.”
Regarding earlier accomplishments, Jacobs has received numerous awards for his talent in songwriting and producing, including a SAMA (South African Music Award) for Best Adult Contemporary Album for Love Can, as well as a nomination for “Best Producer” and “Best Engineer.” Jacobs recently co-wrote the song, “Youngr,” with Brazilian DJ Bruno Martini, which has accumulated 16M streams to date on Spotify. Following the success of the single, Jacobs’ music has been featured in various advertising campaigns, including BMW, Ralph Lauren, Bitmoji, as well as during two primetime broadcasts of UFC Fight Island. In addition, he recently released a song with TikTok star and music producer JBroadway titled, “Don’t Worry.”
