Following the success of his debut novel Alter Ego (JC Lattès), the release of the eponymous album on Decca Records France and his concert at the Opéra Garnier, virtuoso guitarist Thibault Cauvin continues his musical journey with LARS.

As part of the ongoing Alter Ego project, LARS was inspired by an encounter in The Hague and grew out of a conversation with a lawyer who confronts humanity’s darkest realities every day. Over the course of their conversations about justice, guilt and morality, Lars shared two radically different childhood stories with Thibault, profoundly moving him and prompting him to reflect on the paths that shape human destinies.

About Thibault Cauvin

Born with a guitar inherited from his father, Thibault Cauvin began playing from an early age, spending countless hours immersed in music. While many dream of conquering the world, Thibault achieved it through his guitar, winning 36 international prizes across the globe and becoming the most awarded guitarist of his generation. Often described as the “Roger Federer of the six strings,” he quickly established himself as one of France’s most gifted and singular musicians.

Before the age of twenty, he embarked on a seventeen-year world tour that would take him to nearly 130 countries. From Carnegie Hall in New York to the Forbidden City in Beijing, from the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow to the summit of the Eiffel Tower, Thibault Cauvin has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious and unexpected stages. Over time, his dazzling virtuosity evolved into a deeply poetic musical language, nourished by his encounters, travels, and fascination for cultures around the world.

Driven by a spirit of adventure and artistic freedom, Thibault has collaborated with artists from remarkably diverse musical worlds, including Matthieu Chedid, Didier Lockwood, Erik Truffaz, Émile Parisien, Thylacine, Lea Desandre, Ballaké Sissoko, and Brazilian guitar legend Yamandu Costa.

Storytelling has always been central to his artistic identity. Beyond the stage, Thibault has shared his stories through radio creations for France Musique and, in 2025, through the publication of his first novel Alter Ego (JC Lattès), acclaimed by critics and readers alike. Conceived as a multi-layered artistic project combining literature, music, painting, and live performance, Alter Ego marks a major new chapter in his career.
