Slander and Nejvex Join Forces for Heavy Bass Collaboration “Booster Ignition” on Gud Vibrations

Los Angeles-based GRAMMY-nominated duo SLANDER has teamed up with rising producer Nejvex for a new single “Booster Ignition,” out now on the duo’s Gud Vibrations label. The collaboration marks a full-circle moment in the relationship between SLANDER and Nejvex, whom the former first selected as their ICON Collective scholarship program winner several years ago.

Built at the bleeding edge of futuristic dubstep and riddim, “Booster Ignition” launches into a cinematic world of sci-fi sound design. NASA system-check recordings set the scene as tension steadily builds before giving way to guttural sub-bass drops, laser-like synths, dystopian atmospherics and otherworldly textures. Guttural bass design and intricate rhythmic fills keep the track moving between moments of anticipation and full-force impact.

“Getting to work on this track together was the best experience ever and definitely a full circle moment for me,” says Nejvex. “I remember a few years ago getting a DM from SLANDER with interest in signing some of my tracks to their label which I was super taken aback by. After that the connection sort of kept on growing over the years — I released an official remix for them, won their ICON Collective scholarship, moved out to LA and after finishing out school, I started working in the studio with them a bunch.”

“We have a pretty big overlap taste-wise in what sort of music we like and we get along creatively so well, but also most importantly, we get along as people and friends”, continues Nejvex. “I think we managed to create something unique that hopefully stands out from the rest in the ever-growing dubstep landscape. It’s honestly my favorite track that I’ve ever gotten to work on so far.”

For Nejvex, the collaboration represents several years of growth alongside the duo. After matriculating at ICON, he relocated from his native Czechia to Los Angeles, where he continued developing his production style under their mentorship. SLANDER subsequently signed his forward-thinking five-track ‘OUTLAW’ EP to Gud Vibrations in 2024, followed by his four-track ‘DON’T BE MAD’ EP earlier this month. He has also released an official remix for SLANDER and provided tour support at select stops on their immersive audiovisual “The Voyager” tour.

“Booster Ignition” builds on SLANDER’s longstanding commitment to developing emerging talent through Gud Vibrations, while continuing Nejvex’s trajectory as one of the label’s rising artists. Nejvex has brought his forward-thinking bass sound to stages across North America, providing tour support for SLANDER at Pacha NYC, Believe Music Hall, Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Big Night Live, Treefort Music Festival, Echostage, Revel, Skydeck at Assembly Food Hall and Echoa Ridge. Following the release of “Booster Ignition”, SLANDER will continue their international touring schedule with their forthcoming Asia Tour.
