Soft Loft announces new album | out 04/09

Today, our favourite “indie-something-something” Swiss 5-piece releases brand new single Caught and is announcing their second album, titled Throw A Dice – to be released on September 4 via [PIAS] Recordings.

Fronted by singer and lyricist Jorina Stamm, Soft Loft craft a warm and emotive indie sound that blends moments of euphoric release with introspective melancholy. Caught signals the start of a new chapter for the band — a high-voltage anthem for twenty-somethings reflecting on the moment they played it safe when they should have been fearless.

In Jorina Stamm's words : “Caught explores emotional immaturity in your twenties, that moment when you grow older and realize you should’ve been braver, that you should’ve taken the chance when it was right in front of you. It captures the frustration of feeling caught in the past, caught between memory and the weight of what could’ve been. Whenever something resurfaces: a song, a place, a thought, you’re suddenly thrown back in time, realizing that even after all these years, it can still throw you off. The song moves between longing and release. It acknowledges the pull of “what if,” but ultimately pushes toward letting go, toward finally shouting “so long” at the past. Because not everything we romanticize about the past was truly good.”

Recorded and produced by the band in France and mixed by Grammy-winner Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, The National, Florence The Machine), new upcoming album Throw A Dice is, in many ways, a reflection on life itself. It’s about what that band learned, what they’ve observed, what has helped and what hasn’t. It questions whether they’re stepping into a new phase in life, or if that idea of clear-cut phases doesn’t really exist at all. It’s about it all being a big game, a huge gamble and you won‘t know if it‘s all gonna turn out fine or if it’s not, let‘s throw the dice.

After a breakthrough year of headline touring and festival appearances across London, Berlin, Paris and Zurich, as well as slots at The Great Escape, Reeperbahn and Montreux Jazz Festival, plus tastemaker praise from BBC 6 Music to KEXP, this year is shaping up to be even bigger with their [PIAS] debut and an 2026 EU fall tour - more to come on that soon.

Jorina Stamm about the new album: "We started working on these songs in 2024 and kept going right until we entered the studio at the end of April/beginning of May 2025. At this time we were playing a lot of shows, so the initial motivation was also to write songs that are really fun to play live.

What came together is a wild collection of songs, a snapshot of thoughts and feelings from that time. When you listen to them as a whole, the common thread becomes obvious. They circle around growing older and feeling torn between your rebellious and your reasonable side. Around finding loved ones and losing loved ones, age as a number and age as a feeling, getting well, transience, and simply being alive."
