Some Fear announce sophomore album, share "I Don't Want To Spend My Money"

Oklahoma City’s Some Fear, the four-piece band led by Branden “Bran” Palesano, are excited to announce their sophomore album, Word Eater, available April 24, 2026, via Houston’s tastemaking Rite Field Records. The first preview arrives today with “I Don’t Want to Spend My Money,” which channels frustration with financial inequality into churning riffs with melodic tones. “Big man making all the dollars / While I waste away / I can't catch a break / I can't save a thing,” Palesano laments.

“This song is about the evil billionaires and companies living off of us like the blood-sucking vampires they are,” says Palesano. “While we live paycheck to paycheck, they get to live lavishly and abundantly. Makes you want to stay inside and not spend a dime.”

Word Eater captures the struggle of being drained by the powers that be, while highlighting the radical importance of community and close relationships as our only means of survival. Across 8 slow-motion songs, the band matures from their lo-fi roots into a more polished, high-fidelity sound characterized by dense and patient textures. The record serves as a deep dive into the internal monologue, exploring the heavy toll of unspoken emotions, financial burnout, and the isolation of modern times. By balancing these weighted themes with a search for harmony and connection, the band carves out a unique space in independent music where fragile introspection meets expansive, intentional production.

Last year, Some Fear shared their self-titled debut album, which served as an introduction to new, fine-tuned era of Some Fear. Together, the songs established the group as a new force to reckon with, ready to embark into a hazy universe of longing, loss, and loneliness.
