Sophie Sirota 'Pressure Drop Remixed' - reimagined debut album by violist, singer and experimental music composer out 10th September 2026 (Coastal Electronauts)

‘Pressure Drop Remixed’ is a reimagined version of ‘Pressure Drop’, the debut album by the Kent-based violist, singer and experimental music composer Sophie Sirota issued in late 2025. Out today (10th September), it includes contributions from a number of musicians that Sirota has worked with across her career, including Youth (who has provided two remixes), 4hero, Shape Navigator and 3Head.

‘If I Wrote A Song Would You Like It? (Shape Navigator Remix)’ has also been made available as a release day single, a video edit for which has been created by @diz_qo and can be seen HERE.

Sirota and Shape Navigator aka Peter Coyte run the Whitstable-based monthly meet-up sessions Coastal Electronauts, as well as the record label of the same name. “Peter has given me considerable support and encouragement during my solo journey, and we have collaborated on several live projects,” explains Sirota. "He also mixed and mastered the original 'Pressure Drop’ album, so asking him to remix something from it was inevitable. The result is this beautiful track.”

In regard to the video, @diz_qo states: “I was seeking inspiration for it and found an old photo I’d taken years ago of what I believe to be some kind of radar equipment. It somehow resonated with the track - its sense of transmitting and receiving, of searching for a signal - and became the starting point for its visual language.”

Two other tracks from ‘Pressure Drop Remixed’ have previously been released as singles, both of which have been promoted with videos created by @diz_qo. The full nine minute version of ‘50:50 Pure Trance - The Endless Carousel of Lust and Suffering Dub (Youth remix)’ can be seen HERE, with a video edit of ‘Mood (4hero remix) available HERE.

Speaking about the remix album as a whole, Sirota says: “I’ve been fortunate to work with some incredible musicians during my career and it has been humbling to receive so many positive reactions to the idea of making it. What each contributor has sent back has resulted in a really eclectic variety of styles and sounds. I left each remix to their discretion and deliberately gave no direction or input.”

Acknowledging the growth of the underground electronic music scene, she adds:

“I'm particularly pleased to have had a number of younger artists provide unique interpretations of my tracks, including people I have met through the vibrant EMOM scene. After all, this is what gave me the initial encouragement and support to create the original album.”

Sophie Sirota is a classically trained violist, singer and composer. With an extensive career spanning across multiple genres, she has collaborated as a session musician, live performer, arranger and composer with an impressive range of artists that include Paul Weller, Kim Deal, Tindersticks, Beth Orton, Ed Harcourt, 4hero, D'Influence, Gabrielle and Robert Kirby.

The latest chapter in Sirota’s career began in 2023 when she began performing at the monthly electronic music meet-up sessions hosted by Coastal Electronauts in Whitstable, Kent. She is now renowned all over south-east England for her innovative performances, creating ambient glitchy soundscapes using looper and effects pedals to craft intricate, evolving textures.

Sirota's 2025 debut album, ‘Pressure Drop’, was a collection of sonic explorations shaped by live performance and experimentation. All but one of its six tracks were composed using just her electric viola, pedals and voice to create atmospheric soundscapes with abrasive, noisy textures, an interplay that mirrors both internal chaos and meditative calm. The album is available via Bandcamp and can also be streamed via Spotify Apple Music Amazon Music.
