Sparkling release new single “The Same Again”

The Same Again“ tackles the incapability of humans to learn from their mistakes. It is a song about countless repetitions of idiocies and the question of whether this really has to be. Yet, today’s dilemmas are answered with a delicate dose of self-mockery rather than a fall for frustration. Did the self-proclaimed summit of creation lose the ability to remind the past and to act in the now? “Is this how we wake up?”, “Is this how it should be?” Maybe this is about mistakes we make as individuals, maybe it is about society as a whole.

In the video, the band are surrounded by bedding and pillows. The world is an infinite bed. The cycle of sleep and awakening is eternal. It is an endless repetition, day by day. The only way out is breaking the routine. SPARKLING from Cologne, Germany has been formed by the brothers Levin and Leon Krasel and was completed by their friend Luca Schüten in 2013.

Following on their 2016 EP “This is not the paradise they told us we would live in”, produced by Moses Schneider, “The Same Again” is now the first released single of their long-anticipated debut album. It was produced by Andy Ramsey of Stereolab and was recorded in London and Düsseldorf. For the first time, the band now combine German and English language in their work. This statement reflects on the band members’ multicultural environments plus the experiences they gathered at the universities and art schools they visit.

Half a year spent in London, double headline tours with French bands and innumerable, wild concerts in small but sweaty clubs all over Europe have added up to a distinct sound, clearly audible in the new album. Be ready to find it between sharp reflections on shared experiences and a desire to explore more and more of what this world offers.
