Spencer Brown announces “18 Min Loop” NFT

Spencer Brown is pleased to announce the May 11 launch of "18 Min Loop” NFT, his first venture into web3 and the longest track ever minted.

Produced in partnership with Rising Digital, "18 Min Loop” NFT is built around Spencer’s recent track of the same name and the B-side of the inaugural double single release on his new label, diviiine. As the title implies, the track (and NFT) clocks in at a whopping 18 minutes in length and has received DJ support from John Digweed, Luttrell, Danny Tenaglia, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna, Marco Faraone, Above & Beyond and more.

Spencer Brown launched diviine earlier this year as a way to fight a system that tells artists how people should consume their art and that they should make music that’s “playlistable.” diviine allows Spencer full creative freedom to make the music he wants without any bounds..it’s about artists coming together to give power back to the artists. With this same zeitgeist, Spencer now enters the NFT space.

“NFTs and web3 excite me for several reasons,” Spencer says.

Artistic freedom. And being paid for it

“For artists who make music that doesn’t necessarily fit streaming algorithms, it’s freeing. Fans can support their favorite artists by collecting assets in the metaverse. Some artists don’t like to play by the rules. With web3, there are no rules. I want to release an 18 minute NFT? Great. We are doing it.”

Another income stream in a broken industry

“News flash: artists can hardly make a living without touring non stop—unless they stream in the hundreds of millions. Web3 has the opportunity to change that.”

NFTs bring back scarcity, that feeling of collecting something unique and special “Streaming music has proven to be an extremely accessible tool, but it also makes everything available at all times. My favorite memory of getting into dance music was trading rare music with friends. That feeling of collecting a record that only a few others had. NFTs bring this feeling back.”

Community

“I’ve been an avid supporter of this space for years, but I never found the right time to jump in with my own work. The space is full of passion and futurism. Now that I’m starting my own label and releasing music exactly as I want, it’s a perfect time.”

Spencer’s most recent release diviine 02 “Stuck/Reflex” is a double single in collaboration with Senegalese/American singer/songgwriter, Marieme. Thus far, ‘Stuck’ has received radio play on SiriusXM Diplo’s Revolution and KCRW while receiving DJ support from John Digweed, Oliver Heldens, Richie Hawtin and SOHMI, Fans will be able to catch Spencer on the road through the remainder of the year as he will be playing extended sets and in some cases, open to close, at intimate venues throughout the world.

18 Minute NFT drops on MakersPlace as a 1 of 1 on May 11. There is no reserve price. Happy bidding.
