St.Arnaud Announces 'Love and the Front Lawn' LP | Shares Video "Catching Flies"

Edmonton indie-pop songster St.Arnaud today announces details of his sophomore album Love and the Front Lawn. To celebrate the announcement, St.Arnaud shared the enchanting stop motion video he created for his latest single “Catching Flies”. Love and the Front Lawn is set for release via Fierce Panda on April 29th 2022.

"December 2020, with time on my hands,” explains Ian St.Arnaud, “and a push from my younger brother to try my hand at stop-motion, I began to draw up a lonely bachelor frog with too much time on his hands as well. While he ate up all my spare hours in a spare bedroom. and life began to ramp back up in exciting and wonderful ways, I figured his little story could end up a happy one too."

Love and the Front Lawn follows his 2019 debut album The Cost of Living, a DIY tour-de-force of fun-loving melodies overlaying themes of death, loss, and anxiety. Love and the Front Lawn continues the sad lyrics/happy melodies framework but with a new instrumental palette.

For Love and the Front Lawn, St. Arnaud worked with producer Graham Lessard (Basia Bulat, Timber Timbre, Stars) who brought out the texture and dark corners of the songs through slippery slide guitar and keyboards throughout. Harkening back to 60s protest folk and 70s early indie, St. Arnaud’s beaming, clever lyrics belay the more cerebral themes of the songs.

St. Arnaud is a little bit of everywhere to everyone. Working alongside his brother and fellow creative, the YouTube animator GingerPale, St.Arnaud found a loving home on YouTube and Spotify with legions of eager listeners. He has performed with Basia Bulat, Reuben and the Dark, and Lucy Rose among others and has performed at stages across the world including at Reeperbahn, New Colossus Festival, FOCUS Wales, and Tallinn Music Week.
