Storytelling pop artist Mariecke Borger releases second single of third album, 'Heartbeat' out 8 May
In Borger’s own words; “‘Heartbeat’ talks about the realisation that you don’t always need the advice and wise words of others. It’s because you feel, because you know; “I have all I need to be happy.” It’s time to listen to yourself, your own intuition, and the fire within you, it’s time to listen to your own heartbeat, and feel that you’re alive.”
The single is part of a bigger project, her third album ‘Unravel’. With ‘Unravel’, Borger delivers a record of quiet international calibre. For listeners drawn to folk, americana, and thoughtful song writing, it offers a beautifully balanced collection of songs that resonate with both emotional depth and musical grace.
The title ‘Unravel’ serves as the thread that runs throughout the album. Across ten songs, Borger gently traces the path that has led her to the present moment, while simultaneously opening up a sense of what lies ahead. The songs seemed to find her during a brief, inspired period in autumn, as she sat at the piano. Over the following year, she and her husband, Floris de Vries, shaped the album together, with Floris de Vries co-producing and recording the project.
From the Veluwe woods to the storied stages of Paradiso, Mariecke Borger has spent two decades refining a sound that sits at the intersection of alternative folk, Americana, and intimate storytelling. Now based in Kampen, the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist returns in 2026 with her most definitive work to date.
