Suede's Tenth Studio Album 'Antidepressants'
Platinum-selling, Mercury Prize-winning NME God Like Genius-certified giants of British independent music Suede today release their hotly anticipated tenth studio album, Antidepressants.
The Antidepressants sound is turbo-charged by the energy and vitality that defines the unique power of the band’s live shows. Last week Suede debuted the new album in full at an intimate and exclusive in-the-round performance kicking off their month-long sold out Southbank Centre Takeover. The set, composed only of post-reformation-era Suede music, was described as "a rare exercise in revitalised creative excellence" by the i Newspaper and “both grime-smothered and immaculately graceful” by the London Evening Standard, whilst The Telegraph confirmed "the genre-defining pioneers prove their lasting vitality".
Antidepressants has received widespread acclaim, awarded five stars in MOJO who describe "a defiant, death-defying record - as much joy ride as memento mori". Uncut heard "their most intoxicating, unhinged album since Coming Up", Record Collector described the new record "thrilling and exhilarating", and Classic Pop praised an “intensely energetic” return. Current single ‘Dancing With The Europeans’ has been tipped "euphoric" by the NME whilst The Times said, “Antidepressants is a fascinating record. Suede are going faster and harder than they ever have been."
Whilst current single ‘Dancing With The Europeans’ is a mainstay on the BBC Radio 2 and 6Music playlists, Suede will perform live at BBC Radio 2 In The Park this weekend. On September 12th Suede Takeover returns to the Southbank Centre for the second programme installation. Hosted inside the Purcell Room Suede will revisit the up-close-and-personal 2018 documentary The Insatiable Ones. Discussing its highs and lows with Miranda Sawyer and director Mike Christie in a live Q&A. A one-time only opportunity to get the 2025 update to this essential source of Suede lore.
Suede Takeover continues at the Royal Festival Hall on 13th and 14th September with two sets of Suede's fiercely loved classics, hits and new music. On September 17th the band will perform in the Purcell Room for an unusual and intimate off-mic evening with Suede. The residency closes on 19th September in the Queen Elizabeth Hall, with Suede’s first-ever full orchestral headline show, in collaboration with the Paraorchestra.
Antidepressants is out now in multiple formats including CD (standard and deluxe), vinyl (standard and colour variants), picture disc LP, cassette and as a deluxe box set. All formats are available here.
