THUNDERMOTHER
Mamma mia! This is music with big balls, obviously in a strictly figurative sense. THUNDERMOTHER hail from Sweden and will rock your brains out. The five Stockholm-based girls deliver rock'n'roll that gets down better than gasoline in a motorbike. The engine roars constantly on their current album “Road Fever” taking you mile after mile towards the sunset. And by sunset we mean a whiskey bar. The louder you turn up THUNDERMOTHER, the lower the taxes on fuel become, the closer you get to the stage, the heavier the bass rumbles through your brain stem, until you think that Angus Young in person is jumping through your ear canal screaming “freedom!”. SATYRICON
“This is Armageddon!” - Exactly! Not only is this the opening line on one of the greatest black metal albums of all time, it is also the motto under which SATYRICON will hold one of the few “Nemesis Divina” anniversary shows. Where? At SUMMER BREEZE 2016, of course!
With the 1996 milestone “Nemesis Divina” SATYRICON definitely propelled themselves in the black metal olympus. The perfect mix of epicness and merciless speed found its peak in the video track “Mother North”, which until today retains its charm as a dancefloor sweeper. And despite a latent progressive side, the seven songs are strangely accessible, which can be pinned on some epic Bathory influences. Anyway, fact is SATYRICON have evolved a lot musically since “Nemesis Divina”, which has not necessarily gone down well with some fans of the old albums. Not only these “old” fans will get the rare chance to experience an old-school SATYRICON with the material of the majestic “Nemesis Divina” as their main focus. You must not miss this unique chance!!!
SKÁLMÖLD
SKÁLMÖLD are true vikings. Icelandic is the language that has changed the least over the centuries. So, in theory, the 300,000 Icelanders alive today could speak to their ancestors without communication problems. And even though at SUMMER BREEZE there will be only a few patrons who speak Icelandic, the music will certainly ignite a spark when Icelandic folk meets energetic viking metal melodies. SKÁLMÖLD offer diversity and will be a welcome guest at SUMMER BREEZE for all fans of epic Icelandic darkness and folk moments that highly profit from their dynamic rhythm section. SKÁLMÖLD keep their take on Icelandic culture alive with a number of variations.
BEYOND THE BLACK
By now, everyone should really be aware of this band. Who else start their band career with a support slot on a Saxon tour? Who else announce a tour with legends such as The Scorpions? There is one answer to that: BEYOND THE BLACK.
To sum up what is trying to be said with all this hyperbole is this: SUMMER BREEZE will also be graced with BEYOND THE BLACK's presence. And it will be great. Female fronted metal with a knack for big melodies that are transported by sharp guitars, Jennifer Haben's voice or Michael Hauser's keys. For BEYOND THE BLACK, rock and metal songs are a form of expression that can lead through all of life's different moods and feelings. TOXPACK
Berlin street punk pioneers TOXPACK make clear statements influenced by what is happening around us on a daily basis, without embellishment. TOXPACK songs are delivered with the raw, charismatic voice of singer Schulle and the instruments of his mates Tommi, Erik, Stephan and Zoppel, forming an awesome mix of streetcore and hardcore.
Their anthemic choruses turn the crowd into the “sixth band member”. A TOXPACK show is synonym with good fun and massive power. Their earnestness and honesty make these Berliners a band that will genuinely touch the hearts of punks, rockers, hardcore fans and followers of any given mixture of the above.
FEAR FACTORY
Man, how time flies! The next confirmed band has already been grooving their way around their world for 25 years. We are obviously talking about FEAR FACTORY, who will appear at SUMMER BREEZE 2016!
FEAR FACTORY are without a doubt among hard music's established acts, even though their success back in the day came practically over night: After their first small tour promoting “Soul Of A New Machine” their career just exploded. But gladly their fate wasn't that of one of those one-hit-wonders who are here today and gone tomorrow. So one killer album followed the next. We hope Dino and Burton will offer a comprehensive retrospective of their career at SUMMER BREEZE, and we are sure there will be something for everyone in there...
PAIN
Oh yes! PAIN will soon release a new album and will present it live at SUMMER BREEZE 2016.
It makes us really happy that workaholic Peter Tägtgren hasn't neglected his electro rock band PAIN in favour of his other projects Hypocrisy and Lindemann, and that he is bringing it to Dinkelsbühl. Old Tägge really strikes a nerve with the PAIN material, both with dancing girls and headbanging boys. That's it, PAIN's music has got to be as danceable as headbangable, and Peter has really perfected that art. Add to that some huge, catchy melodies and nothing else stands in the way of a great party in Dinkelsbühl. Be it “On And On”, “Shut Your Mouth”, “Let Me Out” or “Dirty Woman”, PAIN have more than enough hits under their belts to fill a whole BREEZE evening on their own. Let's hope for a massive best-of setlist!
WOLFHEART
Saukkonen alarm! We proudly present melodies for millions at SUMMER BREEZE 2016: WOLFHEART are coming!
After the band – with only one demo released – were mega successful at their SUMMER BREEZE 2014 appearance, we just had to agree to the request of WOLFHEART mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen. After all, the magician of melody has already two full albums and even a few new songs under his belt... And since highly melodic death metal bands have always been among our and your favourites, the second WOLFHEART show at SUMMER BREEZE should become nothing but another triumph. And you can count on the Finns having cameras rolling again, so attendance is mandatory as you might end up in the official WOLFHEART video clip.
LETZTE INSTANZ
We are looking forward to the LETZTE INSTANZ show at SUMMER BREEZE 2016. Since their inception in 1997, each of the band's releases has been like a stone upon another, building a fortress. It is almost impossible to stick this Dresden band into one particular genre drawer. Varied, emotional and real – LETZTE INSTANZ know how to captivate their audience. Since their formation their career has been on the ascending path. Their 2012 album “Ewig”, for example, reached position number 11 in the German album charts, while more and more people were queueing up to see the band live. So in August fans of all kinds of different background will embrace and celebrate the band's hits.
THE OTHER
THE OTHER are all about horror punk. The band formed in 2002, after having gained a great reputation playing Misfits covers for years under the name Ghouls.The press has called the guys “Europe's most popular horror punk band”. Their past as a Misfits tribute band still rings through in their sound. In 2016 the Cologne-based band will even cross the big pond to terrorise America. Power, dynamics, catchy hits and horror costumes make THE OTHER first-class liv entertainment. As will be seen at SUMMER BREEZE in August 2016. “Not just another band, but THE OTHER!”
NASTY
NASTY have arrived in the premier league of hardcore. Traveling many countries and playing countless shows have not led NASTY to a routine which would make many other bands just repeat the same set over and over again. Dumb routine and rehashing are definitely not NASTY's thing! Every single show means full power ahead, straight in your face. If you would like to know what it feels like to be run over by a steamroller, you should be in the front row at a NASTY show.
This is an established band that has stayed fresh and will unleash a hurricane. At SUMMER BREEZE 2016 “four dudes” will show what “fucked up music for a fucked up world” sounds like. And singer Matthi has a lot to say, be it stage banter or song lyrics – NASTY don't beat around the bush.
VERSENGOLD
New German folk is how VERSENGOLD describe themselves. The Bremen band's long career has produced an enormous catalogue of songs with titles such as “Hoch Die Krüge”, “Im Namen Des Volkes” and “Ich Und Ein Fass Voller Wein”. Supported by bass and drums, the acoustic songs get a special touch that make VERSENGOLD one of a kind.
“From campfire shanty to rock anthem” - VERSENGOLD will ask the SUMMER BREEZE 2016 for a dance, make them sing along and convince them with the golden acoustic and lyric experience. Be there when Dinkelsbühl gets the gold rush.
IN THE WOODS...
There's a nice surprise waiting for you at SUMMER BREEZE 2016! IN THE WOODS..., the band that rose out of the ashes of Green Carnation in the early 90s after mainman Tchort left to join Emperor, will grace Dinkelsbühl with one of their extremely rare performances.
The las album by this ambient black metal ensemble – which has been on hiatus from 2000 to 2014 – was still released in the last millennium (1999). Since then, fans of the Norwegians have been hungering for new material. But it seems like the wait will be over soon. If you believe their Facebook page, there's 72 minutes' worth of material already recorded, ready to captivate their dark hordes of fans. Then in August it will be time for the full live experience at SUMMER BREEZE. It will be interesting to see if the band will go back to their black metal beginnings, if they follow the more progressive path of “Strange In Stereo”, or if IN THE WOODS... manage once more to combine the best of both worlds into one fascinating whole.
But no matter what the end result is, one thing is for sure: IN THE WOODS... deliver art, huge, dark art.
MOTÖRHEAD
With today's confirmation we not only announce one of the scene's most groundbreaking band, but also wish their mainman, one of the most charismatic frontmen ever, a happy 70th birthday: Congratulations, Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister! Hey everybody, MOTÖRHEAD are coming to SUMMER BREEZE 2016!
England's cult rock'n'roll band will play one of their selected summer open air shows in Dinkelsbühl, a headliner show with numerous hits from their over 40 (!) years of career. We are so happy to welcome this rock dinosaur at our festival. After all, Lemmy and his men have influenced from all of metal's subgenres and their frontman is still, at age 70, one of the most brilliant personalities in the whole music business. Look forward to a big party with THE number one rock'n'roll band!
