Summer Breeze 2016: Organization keeps throwing with new names!
The Summer Breeze organization keeps adding new names to the line-up:
TESTAMENT
Bands who deliver the goods for 30 years straight are extremely rare. We are happy to announce TESTAMENT for SUMMER BREEZE 2016. Thrash metal of biblical proportions and with a devilish consistence. Whoever has seen a TESTAMENT show knows the Californians are second to none on the live front. It is highly doubtful you can find anything like that on the worldwide thrash market.
It's an effective mix of thrash metal riffs, melodic elements and the awesome shouts of giant frontman Chuck Billy. During their last few tours TESTAMENT have proven that they can combine new tracks and old classics into a truly killer setlist, regularly blowing both support acts and headliners off the stage. We are anxious to find out what TESTAMENT will deliver in Dinkelsbühl, but a first-class thrash metal brew is guaranteed, with the ingredients (songs) provided by the Oakland quintet.
OBSCURA
There aren't exactly many technical death metal bands from Germany to which both old and young fans bang their heads. In 2016 we will have one of them visit us: OBSCURA are coming to Dinkelsbühl!
Anyone who has ever seen OBSCURA live or spun their discs knows that the boys from Bavaria are technically proficient but never neglect a certain amount of catchiness in their songs. Which is why they will probably leave all amateur musicians with a look of desperation on their faces at their show in Dinkelsbühl. Mainman Steffen Kummerer has really raised the bar in the last few months and hired another two exceptional musicians, guitarist Rafael Trujillo and drummer Sebastian Lanser, so there is nothing in the way of a lesson in the finest prog death metal and instrumental prowess. Don't miss!
D-A-D
You like meaty hard rock? You like the twisted Danish humour? Then we've got something for you: D-A-D will present a fireworks display of hits at SUMMER BREEZE!
Active since the early eighties, this Copenhagen band hav always been a little different from other hard rock acts. With their dirty cow punk rock they landed a first hit in 1987 with the song 'I Won't Cut My Hair', then they became an established act with the 1989 album 'No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims'. Since their early days they always relied on a sophisticated live show (garnished with lots of nonsense), with everything from an oversized couch to the most bizarre instruments imaginable displayed on stage. Let's see what the Danes have prepared for their appearance in Dinkelsbühl, but one thing is for sure, all fans of good old handmade hard rock have got a mandatory date with D-A-D.
ILLDISPOSED
There’s something rotten in the state of Dinkelsbühl, and it's our next band confirmation's fault: ILLDISPOSED will come to SUMMER BREEZE 2016 with a special show!
The Danish party animals have made it their plan for their 2016 appearance on their 25th anniversary to possibly play at least one song off of each one of their albums. This means all of their fans should get their money's worth: both fans of their raw early days and fans of their later works can look forward to a weird/entertaining show by Bo Summer and Co. An who knows, if the motormouth frontman has learned a bit more German there will be no dry eye in the house. Party on!
DEVILDRIVER
Is it new American hate? Is it groove metal? Is it even modern melodic death metal? However you describe the music of our latest confirmation, fact is DEVILDRIVER are brutal!
So far, Dez Fafara and his mob have been able to win you over at each of their SUMMER BREEZE appearances with their massive riffs and their intense stage acting. No wonder, seeing that brutality is very high up in the Santa Barbara band's priorities. We're curious to see how the songs of their new album will fit in their live set, but there's no doubt that, after their SUMMER BREEZE 2016 show, DEVLIDRIVER will leave nothing but happy faces and scorched earth in their wake. And that's the way it should be!
MANTAR
The following confirmation is not really classifiable, as this Hamburg-based band is far too unpredictable and extreme. Welcome to Dinkelsbühl, MANTAR!
Through hard work and numerous shows the duo have build a reputation as an impressive live band. Band members Hanno and Erinc utilize elements from several styles such as experimental, hardcore, punk, doom, death and black metal to form a very original brew that probably doesn't suit everyone's taste, but that makes music gourmets salivate due to its extremity and genius. Both live and on record the duo creates an unbelievably dense atmosphere and incredible power many a five-piece black metal band is not able to achieve. Definitely an exceptional combo that comes to enrich the bill of the Nuclear Blast Label Night in the party tent. Check 'em out!
BURY TOMORROW
Need some fresh air? Hailing from the south of England, BURY TOMORROW are carried by the wind, sometimes stormy, when monstrous growls emanate from singer Dani's throat, sometimes soothing, when soulful clean vocals make their appearance. Guitarist Jason Cameron's smoky voice holds the perfect metalcore balance, gripping the listener without them even noticing. Danger, highly addictive!
A rollercoaster ride of emotions and powerful songs, and if some say there are no surprises left in the metalcore genre, BURY TOMORROW teach them better without batting an eyelid, just blowing them away. But the fall is not so painful when the rich and smooth melodies catch you. Storm warning and sunshine united in one forecast. At SUMMER BREEZE 2016 BURY TOMORROW will give you everything you need in modern metal and more...
VADER
Straight merciless death metal entertainment made in Poland! VADER blast, then switch to the ultimate mid-tempo groove, spraining your neck until the next mosh part kills even more. Peter and his Polish troops will again deliver a brutal beating at SUMMER BREEZE.
Anyone needing a lesson on how to mix strong songwriting, brutal lyrics and monster riffs into a deadly metal cocktail should not miss VADER at SUMMER BREEZE in August 2016. Thrash, death, black – all the extremes packed into one quartet. Not to mention 100% passion, talking about a band that has been around since 1983. Living, mercilessly touring legends – VADER!
GRAND MAGUS
Sweden's GRAND MAGUS are on the highest possible level in heavy metal. They sing about classic topics such as death, heathendom and the power needed to deal with anything that gets in one's way. Stockholm is sending a band to SUMMER BREEZE which will unleash a true riff storm, catchy as hell and with a high risk of addiction.
Their seventh studio album “Triumph And Power” once again showcases the band's strengths. Always heavy as hell, a little portion doom here, a playful guitar solo there, until the double kicks and leaden riffs overrun everything and everyone. So mark this name on your personal running order, because if you miss GRAND MAGUS in Dinkelsbühl it's your own fault.
AGNOSTIC FRONT
This band enjoys the status of a legend, and rightfully so. The hardcore institution AGNOSTIC FRONT will make the Nuclear Blast Label Night rage!
Founders of the New York Hardcore scene and an indivisible part of it for decades, it is impossible to overstate the importance of AGNOSTIC FRONT in this genre. While other NYHC-defining bands such as Cro-Mags, Sheer Terror and Cause For Alarm have retired or gone to the og due to internal strife, AGNOSTIC FRONT have stood the test of time and keep offering captivating live performances and strong albums even 34 years after their formation. If you want to experience the true essence of hardcore, don't miss Roger Miret, Vinnie Stigma and Co. live on stage as part of the Nuclear Blast Label Night!
