Summer Breeze 2017 - January brings new names
The first new names of the new year are:
Long Distance Calling: There is a very special German band coming to Dinkelsbühl, and they are bringing a setlist that YOU can help determine: LONG DISTANCE CALLING will celebrate our birthday with us in August!
Hailed by fans and press alike, the progressive combo will bring their present in the form of a programme that will be decided through an online vote at a later date. Pretty fan-friendly, isn't it?! However, the choice is limited to the band's first three albums ('Satellite Bay', 'Avoid The Light' and 'Long Distance Calling'), which, as you know, are all instrumental records. And since LONG DISTANCE CALLIN very rarely play purely instrumental shows nowadays, you will get to enjoy a very special show. So hurry up and learn all the albums so you are ready when it comes to voting. And for the show obviously...
Aversions Crown: AVERSIONS CROWN are hungry. Hailing from Brisbane, these Australians are touring relentlessly, proving at each show that there is no place on this planet where you can escape the upcoming alien invasion.
Blast beats, breakdowns and highly precise riffing make this extraterrestrial visit even more exciting, and frontman Mark Poida acts like a monstrous life form is raging in his throat. There is an enormous surprise effect to AVERSIOS CROWN's music, and the band definitely has the potential to become Australia's number one export in modern metal. Within The Ruins: WITHIN THE RUINS batter you with their technically ultra precise metalcore, which is driven by lightning fast guitars on the one hand, and bone-rattling breakdown grooves on the other.
Described by the press as extremely brutal, the band led by frontman Tim Georgen pushes everything and everyone aside so their is enough room for action in the mosh pit. Hailing from Westfield, Massachusetts, the band isn't called a “live powerhouse” for no reason. Circle pit and wall of death soundtrack deluxe would be the correct description for WITHIN THE RUINS. While She Sleeps: A few years ago, people where talking about a new star rising on the metalcore firmament. Nowadays this star is burning so bright you could easily call it the guiding light of modern metalcore. WHILE SHE SLEEPS are returning to Dinkelsbühl!
Armed with a new album, their SUMMER BREEZE 2017 show is going to be a fantastic experience – we are absolutely sure! After releasing their debut in 2010, their sophomore album in 2013 and the third one in 2015, WHILE SHE SLEEPS started treading on new musical paths on their fourth record, and called their fans to support them in a crowdfunding campaign. Fresh ideas, perfectly though-out melodies, powerful riffs and a love for metal (especially metalcore) glue this band together and make WHILE SHE SLEEPS as strong as they are.
The New Black: Not only do we at SUMMER BREEZE have reason to celebrate, but also the next confirmed band: THE NEW BLACK are turning 10 in 2017. Reason enough to celebrate their birthday party with you guys in Dinkelsbühl.
And it won't be any old party, because these rockers have come up with some very special stuff for their show: Besides BIG NAME guests who will join THE NEW BLACK on stage, the Würzburg natives have thought of several other surprises, making sure you will get into party mood. The setlist will also be tailored especially for this double-digit birthday, containing more than a few surprises. Which means the birthday boys THE NEW BLACK will turn the tables on you and present you with a present in the form of a unique show that you will ONLY be able to see in Dinkelsbühl. And who doesn't like a good surprise and present? Of course...
Fallujah: Fans of technical death metal are surely familiar with FALLUJAH already. Their debut album 'The Harvest Wombs' gained a place in the list of favourite albums of 2011. In the following years the band continued to be productive and especially creative. FALLUJAH have their very own sound, which takes the listener on an emotional trip, spanning everything from relaxation to utter rage. At SUMMER BREEZE the guys from North California will deliver proof.
It takes more than a desire and the loud metal cliché to leave a mark in the listener's mind. Playful melodies, hypnotic layers of string instruments, precise drumming and uncompromising vocals conform a powerful death metal monster, and many consider their new album 'Dreamless', released by Nuclear Blast, a genre milestone.
Battle Beast: One of the most hopeful heavy metal newcomer bands of the last few years is coming to Dinkelsbühl; we're obviously talking about Finland's BATTLE BEAST.
Although they have already left this newcomer status behind some time ago – they are still one of THE up and coming young bands that keep developing year after year, be it on record or on stage. 'Bringer Of Pain' is their newest stroke of brilliance, which they will be bringing along to Dinkelsbühl. This new album should bring the band a few steps up on the career ladder, as catchy melodies go hand in hand with driving beats and hard rocking riffs. In the intersection between melodic metal (more) and hard rock (less) – crowned by Noora Louhimos powerful voice – the Finns should cause not only tapping feet but rotating heads in Dinkelsbühl. Be there or be square!
1349: Just like the pest that once struck Norway, black metallers 1349 will strike Dinkelsbühl in the summer of 2017, and it was definitely about time they did.
After all, the Norwegians last visit was over 6 years ago. Since that appearance, quite a few things have happened in the 1349 camp, and the band are now coming to Dinkelsbühl in order to make you forget about this long absence. So you can look forward to a true black metal inferno with loads of specials that will leave nothing to be desired. Because, musically, 1349 have been long leading their own way, which they will persistently follow in Dinkelsbühl as well, which is one of innovative, multifaceted black metal.
