Summer Breeze: A LOT of new names!
Summer Breeze keeps adding A LOT of new names:
STEPFATHER FRED
Heavy alternative rock from the Lower Allgäu? Yes, and it's absolutely massive! STEPFATHER FRED have a huge set of balls. Playing live on countless stages with big names such as Emil Bulls and Hämatom means a huge leap towards the hard rock champions league for the band. In August the Southern German quartet will come to Central Franconia.
Their new full-length album is full of variety and diversity. Besides the well-known, dirty power riffs with strong vocals the band throw a few playful additions such as off-beat rhythms and super catchy melodies in the mix. At SUMMER BREEZE in Dinkelsbühl you can get to know your mama's new boyfriend, he's a cool guy!
IMPLORE
Over 40 live shows in 2014, over 80 live shows in 2015, and in 2016 the touring machine will make a stop in Dinkelsbühl. IMPLORE will bring the finest deathgrind to SUMMER BREEZE.
If you like blastbeats, you will love IMPLORE. The band was formed in 2013, and can already look back on one EP, a grandiose debut album and many tours of North America, Europe and even Russia. A short description of IMPLORE would be the most determined slab of hate in between grindcore and death metal. So in late August “I have heard of IMPLORE” will change to “I saw IMPLORE at SUMMER BREEZE”, because IMPLORE deliver the kind of kick in the arse that you happily take. Brutal!
INSANITY ALERT
Command: thrash / sk8 / crossover / metal up your ass! Innsbruck's INSANITY ALERT are attacking SUMMER BREEZE 2016!
Fans of Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., S.O.D., SSS, Dr. Living Dead! Or Toxic Holocaust will surely have their fun with this Austrian crossover bomb, as their motto clearly states: thrash harder! Which, in reverse, means that the Camel Stage area will have all mosh berserkers rioting. The band's short, intense thrash attacks will give you the energy you need. Si if you want to party with some young, wild and brash dudes, you should be ther in time for the INSANITY ALERT on the Camel Stage. Loads of fun guaranteed!
HELL CITY
After the tragic death of bassist Michael “Mike” Konovaloff, HELL CITY unfortunately had to cancel their appearance at last year's SUMMER BREEZE. Yet the band persevered and are now presenting a new line-up, so they can make good for the cancelled show this year.
Still an accurate description: 60% classic hard rock with a 40% metallic edge, 100% driving, groovy, straight and blessed with a frontwoman able to sing anything from heavy stuff to soft, balladesque tones. A pretty good starting point for HELL CITY. With tho albums to their credit, The Belgians can finally play picturesque Bavaria to convince you of their qualities. With their awesome song material and Michelle Nivelle's powerful and pretty dirty sounding voice, this should be a walk in the park for the band, as HELL CITY have already managed to gain enough experience on various festival stages in their home country. Now it is Germany's turn to be conquered and taken over, and we are absolutely happy to help.
ONE I CINEMA
ONE I CINEMA will be bringing some modern alternative rock to SUMMER BREEZE 2016.
And it really sounds cool, being the ideal stuff for all those who are tired of the same old bullshit all the “big names” keep delivering. It's hard to believe ONE I CINEMA were only formed in 2013, because the tracks off their debut album “One I Cinema” are so easy on the ears that you would think there are songwriters with decades of experience involved. And this is not the case, which makes this band even more remarkable. Here's hoping this Osnabrück-based band will be able to recreate the quality of their songwriting on stage, but we are pretty confident they will. So, dear rockers and rockerettes, don't let the metalcore/nu metal sounding name misguide you, as this is finest alternative rock for your ears.
KNEIPENTERRORISTEN
The musical direction of KNEIPENTERRORISTEN is no big mystery considering the band's name and history.
They formed in 1998 as a Böhse Onkelz cover band before establishing themselves as an independent band with several albums over the years. Not only their celebrated appearance at GOND is proof of their success with the fans of the originals. They hit the nail on the head with their target group with their straight rock songs and singalong choruses, which work perfectly even after massive alcohol intake. Despite all naysayers, who unfortunately appear automatically when a band swims in these waters, KNEIPENTERRORISTEN have never given in over the years, doing their thing with no compromise. That's why they deserve to be where they are... and they're not going away anytime soon.
SLAUGHTERDAY
When a band releases an album through the FDA Rekotz label, any old-school death metal fan can pretty much purchase it blindly. That is the case with SLAUGHTERDAY!
The East Frisians deliver malignant old-school death metal right in your face. A bit more melodic and slower than most of their label and genre mates at times, but never less impressive and powerful. Fans of Entombed, Autopsy and Death should check out this band, because they deliver exactly what the forerunners perfected over the years in its raw, original form. This will make heads bang until necks are sore. Make your way to the Camel Stage and get a big platter from this rotting death metal buffet. Ideal food for all death metal lunatics!
ARKTIS
The band ARKTIS are at the very beginning of their career. Highly motivated and focused, the Hannover band play metalcore and post hardcore of the highest level, and they know the first single “Gold” from the forthcoming album “Meta” will increase the demand for more ARKTIS.
The quintet deliver songs that are full of emotion and technical finesse, and are not afraid of looking beyond their own noses. It's a breath of fresh air blowing from the north to SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2016. The album will be released in June by People Like You Records, and in August you'll be able to hear the brand new songs live in Dinkelsbühl – absolutely perfect!
THE NEW ROSES
Formidable! When describing the next band we have confirmed, one cannot help but using this adjective: listen up, rockers, THE NEW ROSES are coming to Dinkelsbühl.
With only one EP and one album so far, the gentlemen from Wiesbaden have already created a stir in the German hard rock scene, and with their soon-to-be-released new album “Dead Man's Voice” will certainly be a giant step forward for them. The strength of this band is their first-class songwriting, which means their records contain one hit after another. And since it's a known fact that a good hard rock song only unfolds its real class when played live on stage, the Dinkelsbühl show will be a killer one for THE NEW ROSES are a super tight live band. Don't miss them if you're into earthy handmade songs.
HIGH FIGHTER
Attention sludge and stoner heads! HIGH FIGHTER are an almost unknown band from high up north. The band was only formed in 2014 and has “only” released an EP titled “The Goat Ritual” so far. However, it was enough to secure them the support slot on last year's headlining tour of funeral doom heroes Ahab. You can certainly have a worse start in the music business.
When analysing the musical quality of the Hamburg-based bands led by blond frontwoman Mona, you quickly find the explanation for this incredible head start. Somewhere in between Black Sabbath and Kyuss, HIGH FIGHTER riff, blues and fuzz their way through the sludge/stoner universe, and it is a real joy to behold. Add to this a highly energetic live performance and you have their simple but effective recipe for success, which translates to an ever growing fan base. Well deserved, we think, which is why we are happy to welcome the band at SUMMER BREEZE 2016.
STALLION
Yeah, pure, unadulterated heavy metal made in Germany! That's exactly the STALLION's motto!
This will make all the spandex-wearing headbangers happy: STALLION will appear at SUMMER BREEZE and prove that they haven't lost any of their power. Because the Southern Germans keep flying the flag of pure heavy metal with such (youthful) enthusiasm in a way you recently only hear from Sweden. This means STALLION have managed to sound both old-school and fresh on their two EPs and one album. Naturally, the band taps into a few clichés, but in this case the end justifies the means, because the songs work like a charm and you keep feeling transported back into 1985 to 1989, when metal was actually heavy. Great stuff for old-school fans, so put on those striped pants, strap on the studded belt and get you perm done (in case there is still any hair on your head), and off you go to the front row at the STALLION show. Maximum fun guaranteed!
HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY
This band will surely give you a few goosebump moments in Dinkelsbühl. Please welcome HARAKIRI FORTHE SKY!
With their two albums so far, the Austrian band has found a niche between extreme metal and post rock, creating their own little world. The two main characters J.J. And M.S. know how to create an unholy alliance between post rock melancholy and black metal insanity, forming soundscapes that just CAN'T leave the listener cold. Melody and aggression go hand in hand, in a live situation the audience stands before a proverbial wall of sound, which will not leave anybody indifferent with its atmospheric depth. That's how it's going to be in Dinkelsbühl. This is our recommendation for fans of Agrypnie, Heretoir, Deafheaven, Fen and Alcest – so check 'em out!
PARASITE INC.
PARASITE INC. hail from Aalen, which is the region that gave birth to SUMMER BREEZE Open Air. Finest in-your-face melodic death metal, authenticity and perfect interplay of the different band members are what sets PARASITE INC. apart. One thing becomes clear with this confirmation: If you love melodic death metal of the highest order and you want to support your local heroes, you should not miss PARASITE INC. in Dinkelsbühl. It's just fun to kill two birds with one stone when you can do it headbanging in the circle pit. SUMMER BREEZE makes it possible, so be there!
ZODIAC
Powerful rock with a 70s vibe and a lot of depth is the stomping ground of Münster's ZODIAC, who will also come to Dinkelsbühl this year.
The sound of the Westfalians is now miles away from that of their former band Misery Speaks – the description ranges from classic rock to blues, hard rock to stoner, all the way to a Dire Straits reminiscence. Fact is that ZODIAC have struck a nerve with a crowd that reaches far beyond the heavy metal audience with their honest, handmade music. A few self-appointed guardians of the scene may not find this so funny, but most people will not mind having some older blues fans rocking out by their side. The main thing is that the music is good. And that's the case with ZODIAC. Absolutely and beyond all scene boundaries!
WINTERSTORM
Excellent German power metal is what Bayreuth's WINTERSTORM have to offer.
Rightfully celebrated by the press, there's one thing that makes the Franconians' music stand out: melodies, melodies and more melodies. However, during their shows as part of the Heidenfest Tour 2013, they proved that they are also heavy enough, as they easily prevailed alongside harder acts such as Ensiferum and Equilibrium. Music lovers with a weak spot for straight choruses and catchy hooklines should definitely check out WINTERSTORM. Their epic tracks have the potential to melt the ground in front of the Camel Stage.
The WINTERTORM show at SUMMER BREEZE will also be the official record release show for the new album, so all fans old and new will have the chance to get their hands on brand new merch and the hot new album “Cube Of Infinity”.
BLIKSEM
Please give a warm welcome to BLIKSEM at SUMMER BREEZE 2016!
You've got to have big balls to name your new album “Gruesome Masterpiece”, but fortunately in this case the masterpiece outweighs the gruesomeness. Because there isn't really anything gruesome about the Antwerp band's music. What you can look forward is equal parts thrash and melodic heavy metal. Even a bit of US-style power metal and doomy elements shine through here and there. The Belgians biggest asset is frontwoman Peggy's outstanding voice, as she masters both the brutal parts and the more melodic passages with ease. For all these reasons you could call BLIKSEM on of the hottest Belgian metal exports today, and for good reason, we think.
STEAK NUMBER EIGHT
OK then, according to reputed internet sources, the following band play “atmospheric sludge / post metal”, so now you know! However, fact is that STEAK NUMBER EIGHT kick major ass, and that is what matters!
Hailing from West Flanders, the band's sound is pretty powerful, forging mighty creations which will make Dinkelsbühl quake with their massive groove. Between the steep riff walls and the harsh vocal lines there are always smooth melodic hooks, which, together with the songs' potent drive, will get bodies moving and heads banging in a live situation. STEAK NUMBER EIGHT are not a regular band, but definitely a band you shouldn't miss at SUMMER BREEZE 2016.
MR. HURLEY & DIE PULVERAFFEN
A stiff breeze is blowing over the Dinkelsbühl festival site, brought about by the booking of the following band: MR. HURLEY & DIE PULVERAFFEN have set sail towards Dinkelsbühl.
With their attitude and music the German grog'n'roll band, and considering the numerous pirate fans among the SUMMER BREEZE patron, they will be preaching to the converted. Because MR. HURLEY & DIE PULVERAFFEN take their fans on a journey to the times of Captain Morgan, Blackbeard and Guybrush Threepwood. With their versions of traditional sailor songs and some cool originals, their elaborate pirate costumes and a desire to have fun, MR. HURLEY & DIE PULVERAFFEN manage to throw a great party that will hit Dinkelsbühl like a bomb. Check 'em out!
ASENBLUT
Heathendom, heroism, honour and metal! ASENBLUT deliver black, death and thrash elements in their most diverse facets, this way constructing their unmistakable live performance. The Göttingen-based band will be appearing at SUMMER BREEZE Open Air for the first time in August 2016. With litres and litres of mead and raised horns nothing can ever go wrong. Singer Tetzel holds the audience firmly in his grip, and with the two albums “Aufbruch” and “Von Worten Und Taten” ASENBLUT will certainly conquer the fields of Dinkelsbühl. If you don't like flutes and humppa parts in pagan metal, but dynamic, powerful growls and screams, the ASENBLUT show is a must for you.
NIM VIND
Despite having three full albums under their belts, NIM VIND could still be largely unknown. Yet this is about to change when they play at SUMMER BREEZE.
The band have devoted themselves to horror punk at its best. Catchy melodies, smart arrangements and lots of originality with a goosebump effect will make your skeletons dance. Or, in the band's own words: “AFI and The Damned join forces to play at Buddy Holly's funeral.” Fans of Danzig, Volbeat and other rock'n'roll
VIRTUE CONCEPT
It's pretty massive what is coming from Regensburg to Dinkelsbühl next August: deathcore freaks VIRTUE CONCEPT want to make your bodies twitch at SUMMER BREEZE.
And that will certainly not be a problem, as in 2014 they delivered a killer album titled “Blaze”, which is full of incredible riffs and can easily compete on an international level. So this is ideal acoustic fodder for many of you, but be warned: VIRTUE CONCEPT is mostly just mega brutal, so if you are looking for haunting clean vocals, this is the wrong band. Yet you are still welcome to take part in the savage mosh pit that will ensue, so get them bodies in shape already!
